Wow! It's almost as if I played the demo, noticed it doesn't even have fucking 4:3 screen support which is a goddamn joke, gave up on FEAR 2 alltogether and watched the playthrough on the YouTube instead, then after a month the 4:3 support is restored but it's kind of pointless because I already watched the entire thing! On YouTube!
I guess I should've made a post about it 10th of march 2009 at 19:44 GMT time, then we could avoid all that confusion.

I hope an airplane lands on your house.

I wish every game came with an option to play widescreen on a 4:3 monitor. Or they could at least patch it into Dead Space so I could play the fucking thing.
Bjossi on 11/3/2009 at 11:44
Well, my monitor's native res is 1280 x 1024 which is 5:4, but it seems to have no trouble displaying 4:3 resolutions (except 1280 x 960, which makes no fucking sense). What was the reason 1280 x 1024 became a standard on 4:3 monitors anyway? A math error?

I was feeling bored this weekend so I hired out FEAR 2 for the 360. Yeah, I would probably have preferred to play in on the PC but I didn't think it was going to be a game I was going to fork out $100 for. And what do you know, I was right.
Basically I found this game to be a highly polished but terminally dull turd. The gameplay was as repetitive as it was in the first game but lacked that games visceral punch to the combat. The story was completely uninvolving with characters I didn't give 2 shits about and some truly terrible writing. The level design had more visual variation then FEAR 1, which was welcome, but the layout of the levels meant they all pretty much played and felt the same anyway. There were no memorable battles or sequences and it just felt like it was going through the motions. I can't believe this was the company that once made NOLF.
Seems like a lot of you guys like it though so don't let me piss on your parade!:thumb:

With v1.02 released yesterday, I replayed the first couple Intervals. The game is definitely more difficult on Hard difficulty, but the only thing they seem to have adjusted is the level of damage dealt by the enemies and/or the player's the HP. Enemies still seem to run single file into my iron sight or are too busy creating inadequate cover to concentrate on me.
Am I just selling the AI short, because of the highly linear level design? Ie they're given no opportunity to clank, etc?

Did you play to the first replica encounters? I only ask because I found they had a much better sense of advancing using cover than the humans did.

No. Because I fucking hate that Outer Shell level.
Those Harbinger rejects are a lot more deadly though.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who hates Outer Shell.
