F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate versus Project Origin - by Digital Nightfall

I finished FEAR and moved onto FEAR:XP and I don't see why people hate the expansions so much. True that it isn't made by Monolith but I don't really care. In fact it seems even more tense than the original FEAR game, the firefights are harder(not good for new players) and I love those cute new turrets. One thing that I just loved about this one is the horror, like when Holiday dies, that bit had me panicking and running into another room and also that bit with the phone screaming(reminiscent of Ring). The battle in the church was also awesome.
The only gripe I have with it is the lack of creativity in the level design, I'm so sick of warehouses(I feel like I'm going through the first section of FEAR again in this expansion. It all looks the same and yes I agree some of the outdoor scenes looked bad graphically wise). But still it doesn't deserve the bad reputation, the good points outweigh the bad points by far.

Most hate seems to be reserved for Perseus Mandate's first half; XP is the cat's ass.

I've played through Extraction Point up to the Dark Heart level and I must say it's really great in the horror department. However one thing confuses me, Alma's motives aren't clear at all(she helps the Point Man in certain bits and in one bit she said something like "Help Me" so I assumed that she isn't actively trying to kill me(trying to help her son and all that). And yet I keep seeing her older(and strangely naked) version popping out to have a go at me and on top of that the visions keep coming as well as the various shades, ghosts and other supernatural creatures that she summons. So is Alma's ghost bipolar or something or is it something which TimeGate stuffed up?

TimeGate stuffed up. Another reason why neither expansion pack is canon.

History dictates that the PC release will highly likely be free, score.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot that Steam supports premium DLC. Whatever.

The new pack - F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn - will feature four all-new singleplayer missions which will expand the experience from an all-new viewpoint. These new levels come with a simultaneous, automatic title update, which introduces a free Slow-Mo Deathmatch multiplayer mode that you can use with all multiplayer content for F.E.A.R. 2.
A demo showing off the new Reborn content will be released on August 28th...
* Four All New Levels: Face the chaos of Alma's aftermath from an entirely new point of view: that of Replica Soldier Foxtrot813. As gamers begin the mission as part of an orbital Powered Armor drop to reinforce their squad, the ruined city of Auburn emanates supernatural events and familiar voices, beckoning Foxtrot813 to go against orders from Replica command. Be careful, not everything is as it seems...
* Slow-Mo Deathmatch: Through a free title update, gamers obtain a slow-mo powerup to slow down enemies in multiplayer deathmatch, thus gaining a distinct short-term advantage. The longer players hold onto the slow-mo powerup, the more objective points are accumulated, contributing to the overall score. Watch out though, whoever has slow-mo ability becomes a bigger target to everyone else!
F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is the third DLC pack produced for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 4th, with a PC release not too far away.

I own this game on the PC. I'm a huge fan of the original, bought it day one.
It's fun if you PLAY it and stop COMPLAINING.
QFT
I've played twice now(Easy and Normal, on Hard Now) and I really liked it. I got just as musch enjoyment out of it as I did with FEAR 1 an Extraction Point. True, it's a little bit short and is missing a few features from the first game but so what. The only thing I didn't really like about it was the publisher. Say what you will but I hate Steam, it makes everything complicated and irritating until you want smash things:mad:(they killed Empire:Total War IMO) and it constantly kept insisting on downloading massive 500mb patches when I didn't want to.
I think Steam should just quit distribution altogether and focus on their online store instead because I don't want their service forced upon me when I buy games in the shops.
That DLC for FEAR 2 sounds pretty promising and hopefully it is free.

Sounds a lot more interesting than the turd expansions that followed FEAR. I'll be all over this - just as soon as I get around to picking up FEAR 2.
