Anyway there's a console demo of the Reborn DLC out now, if anyone cares.
There's plenty of demo playthroughs uploaded on Youtube as well.

Jesus. Why did they even bother releasing a demo for an add-on with a measly 2 hours of play? The demo has to be at least, what, 1/6 of that and free?

I completed the DLC. It was indeed about two hours long, but it was a high quality product, definitely not horse armour. The level design was tight and there was more environment variation than FEAR 1. I had a lot of fun. I've spent $14 NZD on far shittier things, like for couple of over-priced drinks at a bar.
If you didn't like FEAR 2 before, you aren't going to like it now.
If you're a fan of Paxton Fettel, then this is a must-play really. (There's probably some Let's Play videos of the entire thing on Youtube by now, but you usually have to suffer through some gangster wannabe douchebag's commentary).

Should have been free...
Out of interest: what are the criteria for when something should be free?
As long as something sells, it shouldn't be free from an economic point of view. If it doesn't sell, it was overpriced.
It's nice if something is free and it's great PR, but what makes customers feel they're entitled to freebies that weren't promised? Other than a sense of entitlement, of course, which says more about the customers in question than about the thing they want for free.

Yes it should have been free. Oh well, I'll see if I can share the buying money with my old gaming chap.

I have no problems buying single player content that's well made. Like the Fallout 3 DLCs, those were high quality, polished products that I consider money well spent. In the case of these, the non-existent right that long-time PC gamers imagine that they have to free extra stuff is utterly stupid.
Non-MMO multiplayer content is an entirely different kettle of fish though. Charging for map packs is wrong on principle, it does nothing but divide communities, limiting the number of people that you can play with.
Also charging for stuff that ships with the game (eg Street Fighter 4 alternative costumes, the Resident Evil 4 Vs. Multiplayer modes) and the equivalent of cheat codes (eg the DLC for the console versions of Dead Space, Godfather 1 & 2) is wrong as well.

Thanks for that run-down.
