I actually like Primal Hunt. :( It's not THAT bad.
I enjoyed it also (though not nearly as much as the original). From what I've seen of this forum, I'm able to enjoy much more than the average person. I just don't hate nearly enough! :P

Me neither. And when I do hate, I apparently hate all the wrong things. :(

I liked Q2 a hell of a lot more than FEAR. Lot's more enemies, and different guns for different situations. Isn't that what a shooter is about?
I guess fighting one or two kinds of enemies with one or two guns for the whole game just doesn't cut it for me. Sure, it may not be realistic, but I'd rather be able to carry my whole arsenal and take on tanks and aircraft carriers, rather than shooting enemy grunts the whole game.
For me, FEAR was pretty, and dull, in equal measure. And the plot was pure "WTF?!!"

Okay, bitching that FEAR isn't like Quake 2 is like complaining that the Witcher isn't like Fallout.
They're very very different games. They hardly even make games like Q2 anymore.

Was I bitching? Oh dear, time to buy some new shoes.
You know, I loved the ending of Crysis. Finally, after years and years, a ludicrously over-sized boss fight (even if it wasn't very hard). I thought I'd magically been transported back into the 80s.
They just don't make em that way anymore, you're right.

I have to agree with him about the enemy diversity in the FEAR games. Here are the enemies: Replicas, Rev-6, Stealth Soldiers, those weird ghosts; and that's it. In the expansions we see Leviathans, Nightcrawlers and mr. Red Eyes.
This doesn't ruin the game at all for me, but I'd enjoy the game a lot more if I had more variety of bad guys to kill.

Comparing Quake 2 to another game seems weird to me when it can't even hold a candle to Quake 1.

Hmm, I prefer the latter, and I think FEAR is just fine as it is. I wouldn't say it's more realistic this way, but it's certainly more believable, and help me get into the game more. You fight one or two kinds of enemies with one or two guns in most tactical shooters and I love those, so FEAR being a bit reminiscent of those games is what I really like about it. And all the paranormal stuff gets more creepy in a game world that's basically believable.
