HA, yeah. Were they as potty-mouthed in the sequels? I cannot remember and I haven't made it to them in my replay of the series yet.

Has any of the following 'features' been 'fixed' (option to turn them off, etc) in the patched up FEAR 2?
-motion blur
-film grain
-anamorphic 16:9 display
-HUD
-checkpoint only save
-enemy highlight in slo-mo
...because I've been thinking about getting the FEAR pack, but decided to double check and play the FEAR 2 demo, and geez, I remembered why it annoyed me back then - but apparently the full game got a few patches since then.

Both motion blur and film grain can be turned off. The game is no longer displayed in anamorphic letterbox if you're using a 4:3/5:4 display. No to everything else.
EDIT:- Also worth noting that they gave Hard mode a huge buff in one patch, to be ya know, actually hard.

All I remember from FEAR is slow-mo shotgun blasts to the face, Ringu rip-off sequences, and that pretty sweet ending. Never looked up any of the others for no reason whatsoever. Might be worth a look at some stage.

The Dev's fully disclosed their Ringu-phelia. It's right in the "making-of" movies that come on the FEAR collectors edition DVD.
They flat out say they wanted to make a cross between a John Woo movie and The Ring. I suppose you could fault them for their lack of originality, but they did a good job of it, and they were up front.

FEAR 1 just MIGHT be my favorite corridor shooter. I have a beastly sub-woofer and that gunfire is rather erection-inducing through it. Especially the gun I can the 'Mister'...you may know it as the combat shotgun. I just can't get enough of the way you can literally turn the enemies into a fog of blood mist occasionally with it. Even the pea shooters sound great.
Even hearing that Menu music DUUUMMMMMM duuuummmm gets me fired up.
