No. It's a corridor bicycle kick simulator.

FEAR is a corridor shooter?
Are you seriously so stupid? WTF, man. I would smack you but I fear being jailed for abusing the mentally handicapped.

Is it just me that's having trouble actually pulling that off?
I'm playing through the original at the moment... bought it plus expansions for cheap on Steam a little while back. To start off with I was very unimpressed, but it's growing on me. I feel like the AI gives you back as much as you put in... I started off being super cautious, playing it the way I play that other game with an absurdly awkward acronym for a title. Then I learned to lean into it and love the slow-mo button, and it's much more enjoyable. Pistol-sniping an enemy across the room in bullet-time is never going to get old, I reckon. And the way the enemies actually move about the space instead of hugging their cover is quite refreshing.
The 'horror' stuff I've found mostly cheesy, but there was a fantastic moment involving
a ladder - a character appears behind you as you spin around to climb down, then one appears right in front of you when you get off. I thought it was a fantastic use of the game's mechanics to induce a scare moment... something they usually leave to the realm of physics (can't remember the number of times I've jumped down towards water and landed in BLOOOOOOODD. As far as 'scary person appears from nowhere' goes, I thought that was pretty much state-of-the-art. But at the point in the game I'm at I think that particular trope is a bit overused... had it not been I probably would have jumped out of my chair.
Speaking of overused, the same old warehouse setting it starting to get old. Not sure how far in I am, but I've not yet seen any of the fabled interesting enemy types if that puts things into perspective. I've heard the ninjas are sublime.
Actually, no. I did once come across a guy in more-fancy armour who was tougher to kill than the rest. I think he was carrying the sticks-people-to-walls gun, 'cause I grabbed it around then.

Will always love the original Fear. It brought a lot of new lighting effects and physics to the genre back then. You really feel like your in the heart of a big research facility as you uncover more and more clues as to what was happening. Plus, it references a lot of stuff that is going on today in terms of research and testing that dates back to WW2.
Anyone notice that Armacham is a reference to some of our big Defense Contractors in the US?
Almost done with a second run with Fear 2. Have yet to pick up Fear 3.

It's actually a reference to a major company in Shogo.

Check out some of our top Defense Contractors in the US and you will notice a familiarity. A lot of of them have several research divisions doing classified research and testing. I am sure the game designers of Monolith (as well as others) did their homework before making games like this and creating fictional Research and Defense Contractor corporations.
Still, Armacham reminds me of a huge Defense Contractor that I used to work for.

Thats pretty awesome for a marketing stunt! Is there some secret encoded message for 4EAR or whatever bollocks they end up calling it?

That's pretty cool, did it just pop up recently? I'd love to see another FEAR game, provided it was more like FEAR 1 and less like Fthreear.
