Feeling Nostalgic... - by Hanse

/me gives everyone a cookie
Maybe I'm going through some midlife crisis, but I've been thinking about this place a lot.
Some ten years ago, TTLG was my home. TTLG was filled with people that I was blessed to call my friends, people who made me laugh and feel happiness at a time when I had very little to feel happy about in my real life. Many of them didn't know that, though some did, those people I became close enough to to confide in via IRC, ICQ (lol ICQ ;)) and email. I met several taffers in real life - Digi was the first. It was thanks to TTLG that I met my amazing husband, to whom I've been happily married for seven and a half years now. It sounds ridiculous to say, but honestly... TTLG changed my life.
Around the time I stepped down as admin, I had a lot going on personally... some of it was fantastic and joyful, and some of it difficult and stressful. I slowly withdrew from the forums, and even though I idled on IRC, I never chatted much, and people started leaving, getting on with their lives.
Some people I've kept in touch with, and count among my dearest friends. Some I've recently reconnected with thanks to the wonders of the internet and social networking. But most appear to no longer post here, like myself.
So what's the point of this post? I guess I'm mainly interested in catching up with those of you that remember me... and that are still here to even read this post.
I still idle in IRC, in you-know-where, though the channel is usually desolate. I'm often the only one there, and the only reason I haven't abandoned the channel entirely is because a) I'm idling in another channel on the network anyway, so I might as well keep the channel open, and b) *occasionally* some taffer drops by to say hi, and we chat for a bit. Once in a great while, some taffer joins the channel for like ten seconds and then rudely leaves again without saying hi. ;) (I'm looking at YOU PigLick!!!!!)
Do drop by and say hi sometime. If you don't remember where 'you-know-where' is, PM me and I'll refresh your memory, or if you're completely off IRC, then PM me anyway, and we can catch up via FB or G+ or email. I'd love to hear from all of you taffers, especially those of you with whom I may have had a strained relationship with at the time of my departure. (you know who you are...probably) ;) I have many regrets with the way I left things with certain people.
Missing the Nutshaus,
Hanse

Heh, yeh on odd occasion I get a bit of nostalgia too, and drop into some of the old chat rooms, I just dont have the patience for waiting!
Great to see you post here, I dont think anyone who has been touched by this marvellous forum will ever forget, especially those first few years when everything was new and exciting. Even those that longer post or visit anymore would still have a ttlg shaped hole in them, even if it has grown over.
This place has educated me, made me laugh, even helped me through some tough times of my own just by being a strong community.
So yeh, once a part of TTLG, always a part of TTLG.
Now I'll have to find damn irc program again...

Well, we never connected or exchanged posts or anything special, and I was never on IRC, but I remember you from back then, and when I scrounge through the archives for mostly Thiefy conversations, I read your posts among them. I've read more looking back than in the moment, and didn't really come aboard fully until the recent last 5 to 6 years.

Hello Hanse. I popped in and did not receive a cookie. How dare you be asleep at.. oh, oh it's 4am. I see :D
That being the case, I talked AT you for a while.
ICQ, do people still use that? Not that I can even remember what my number was. It had nines in it, for sure.

Who the fuck is cutting onions in here goddamn it.
Ello Hanse! Does anyone have a link to that thread from way back... it was some sort of fiction that we were making up, each post developing a new part of the story, and it involved the nuthaus. In fact that was probably the start of the Nuthaus. On second thought, I rather not see what teen-Alchemi might have posted.
Also, while writing this I had a sudden flashback of Clan Foofie (ty Shug!). Holy fuck. How had I forgotten that. Hmm, I was searching the archives for Clan Foofie to see if I was spelling that right, but no hits. :( Makes me sad.
Oh, and CLAN Larcenio Haul.

I suspect you mean Foofie

I rarely post, but still do a daily read. It's just the TTLG thing Piglick mentioned.
Also... Clan STFU represent!
