I decided to start playing again after watching a zero punctuation review mention how awesome of a game Thief is. I said to myself "why yes, yes it is awesome" then it all came back to me and I promptly reinstalled TG, T2 and TDS with intent to work my way through all three games and then get caught up on FMs. Since I haven't played since WinXP days, I had the joy of trying to get everything working on an acer laptop running windows 7 64bit. Overall the install wasn't too bad because this kick ass community had a lot of good information on how to get it all working right ;) Man, it was so cool getting to the main Thief screen, it immediately evoked fond memories of playing this great game for so many years. Anyway, just wanted to say hey to fellow thief players...so hey! :D

Arr, I have too returned to the FMs after two years. Fallout 3 and a new computer killed it, but like yourself, I return as well. It does feel good to be back.

If you're planning on playing FM's, here's a few I highly recommend:
Ruins of Originia,
Calendra's legacy,
Broken Triad,
Ominous Bequest,
The Rocksbourg series (Ink and Dust especially)
Lorgan's web,
Inverted manse,
Cathedral of the Damned,
Order of the Vine,
Calendra's cistern,
the Cosas series,
Hammerite Imperium,
Keeper of the Prophecies,
Mirror of Return,
Eclipsed,
Insanity's Crescendo,
Dark Messiah
Equilibrium
Seven Sisters
The Den (the l'Arsene series overall is brilliant)
Rowena's Curse
Nightmares (Cauchemars)
Bloody Ruins
And make sure you play Thief 2x if you haven't already. It's a masterpiece.

Thank you for sharing, much appreciated. I remember playing the inverted manse and cosas. I don't think I finished T2X (shame I know ) I made note of the others though.

Yeah, that's more or less what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks too. Getting all three games working on my dual core & wide screen monitor was almost no trouble at all with the help that's available here. Almost.
Now I'm trying to remember where all the loot is located without using walkthroughs. Currently ransacking the Hand Mages compound. I can't believe I never thought of shooting rope arrows at the outdoor hedges before...

I'm too getting back into Thief. Beat the 7th Crystal for the first time and now I'm back in hook line and sinker!
How does the black fair with that Acer monitor? I'm running on an older Toshiba laptop but I hooked a CRT up to it because the LCD didn't cut it by a mile.

I guess it was just a hardware requirement at the time (2004 right?).
More like 2000. That's right, an entire decade.

What blows my mind is that (with the amazing DDfix and Darkwidescreen) we can now run all thief games on a windows virtual machine- on a Mac! I bet the looking glass team never thought they'd have such dedicated fans to their games- even years after they dissolved.:thumb:
