Perhaps the trick is to make the female guards like a really, really annoyed mother?
A Baldrickian idea, maybe ... and yet not entirely without precedence in Thief FMdom. You may already know an annoyed mother was actually (if indirectly) featured as the main adversary in the Contest Mission
A Mother's Love ((
http://www.keepofmetalandgold.com/contest4.htm) here), and true to expectations she was rather vindictive.

Think you misunderstood my post, Dromarius. I was trying to say I find it unlikely that a lot of women would train to fight and take such a guard job to begin with, not that they would try something vily and seductive in stead of chopping the intruder in half.

It wasn't unlikely for the russian pilots (and there are plenty of other examples of women taking up arms in history, in various cultures), so "unlikely" is a pretty relative term. The alternate Theif history is not that far fetched in the female guards respect.

Yes, the KGB used them for snipers because women tended to be more patient.
As for using them for seduction, the Germans in WWII set up a brothel with agents who would seduce high ranking officers and get them to say things that sold them out as traitors.

There are many more relevant examples of female warriors from history than those from the twentieth century. In fact, if we take at the art work and weaponry used in thief as a guide to it's historical setting against our real period, I would say it would be the most appropriate time to have female soldiers. (For justification try link!)(

As to their ability to take out big strong boys, I'm 5'11" and around 14 stone and I've had the living daylights knocked out of me on the re-enactment field by several ladies wielding implements ranging from large ladles to Dane axes. Anyone who thinks being big and strong will protect him from harm has a harsh lesson to learn. Weapons were invented to level the playing field when it comes to size, mainly what counts is skill and determination.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty strange, getting rid of coloured guards. Black characters opened up the idea of a more multicultural society in The City, and it's a shame they've gone.
I don't remember ever noticing that there were black guards. I do now that you mention it tho, but I don't think it was terribly obvious

I would think not being terribly obvious would be a GOOD thing, yes? Would you rather they were given afros and spears?

I hadn't actualy thought about it. Being a female and a thief the only thing that anoys me is when they get in the way. Male or female guards they all get BJ if they get too close.
