A platformer with a particularly sweet-looking 2D/3D gameplay puzzle hook to mess with your brain :)

edit: It would seem that (

Quote:
I am aware that Super Paper Mario and Crush do something similar with a switch between 2D and 3D.
However, both of those games let you run around in 3D space---you need to switch from 2D to 3D, back and forth, to solve puzzles. If you're stuck in 2D, try 3D. If you're stuck in 3D, try switching back to 2D. Even comparing those two games to each other, we see major differences (SPM only offers you one 2D projection, as I understand).
Fez is different, because it's all about 2D projection. Though the world is 3D, you are still a 2D creature "stuck" in 2D space. You can pick one of four 2D projections of this space to navigate through, but you're never allowed to navigate in 3D.

I've seen this trick used in puzzle games before, but not as the main hook to a whole game like this. It's always a great game designer that takes a simple, natural idea that no one quite put together and brings it to life. Looks honestly fun.
I have to say I'm enjoying this little renaissance of 2D platformers going on recently.

(
http://store.steampowered.com/app/224760/) - here goes PC version. I'm not really surprised -with Microsoft policy about patching on XBLA it had to happen one day.
And... yes - I dug out over 5 years old thread!

Hey Renz? Buy a console. <3

Eat a bag of hell!
I'm still waiting for the PS3 to drop in price. Cuz I'm cheap.

Excellent. Although I seem to remember the designer saying some things about how the game needed to be played on a console I always put it down to Xbox PR. I have no desire to buy another console so good to see it finally coming to the PC.

It seems that the full quotation was:
Quote:
“Fez is a console game, not a PC game,” he states, emphatically. “It’s made to be played with a controller, on a couch, on a Saturday morning. To me, that matters; that’s part of the medium.” I get so many comments shouting at me that I’m an idiot for not making a PC version. ‘You’d make so much more money! Can’t you see? Meatboy sold more on Steam!’ Good for them. But this matters more to me than sales or revenue. It’s a console game on a console. End of story.”
Al_B on 19/3/2013 at 12:29
That's the one I was thinking about (although I thought there were some other comments). A cynical view would be that he was trying to make sure people would buy it immediately on console rather than hang around for a possible future PC release.

Welcome to the PC, Mr. Fish. Do we all still need to suck your dick, and choke on it?
To be fair, I think Phil's changed a lot since Fez came out. A lot of things seemed to get the most of him around release, although that's hardly an excuse for his behavior, he seems to have learned not to be a wretched asshat since then. He's humbled up a bit (or would it be down)?
I don't think Fez is the kind-of game for me, however.
