Yep. I'm about the same amount in. It's getting a little harder to get everything now. I still have 2 treasure maps that are incomplete.

I managed to find all the treasures. Fair warning: one of them you won't be able to find until NG+. The half-burnt one. And even when you find it you won't know what to do with it.
I couldn't figure out what to do with any of the artifacts though. :erg: Well, I mean I guess 1 of them was a die. But I couldn't figure out if it had any use besides informing you about what the numbers look like.

How much of a mindbender is Fez puzzle-wise, e.g. compared to Braid? I'm curious how far I'll get with the brain I've been given, which does okay with some kinds of puzzles and fails miserably with others...

Just getting through the game to the end isn't difficult. Easier than Braid. But if you wanna uncover all the mysteries of the world you're going to have your work cut out for you. It's more like Dark Souls than Braid I'd say. Barely any handholding, and all the cool stuff in the game isn't just laid out for you.

The codes are crazy. Mainly because it doesn't tell you that there are even any codes.

To be fair - it's fairly clear that there's a language code in the game and although it took a little while to spot how to decode it when I did I was kicking myself for not being more observant. At least one of the other codes becomes fairly explicit in one of the later rooms.
What I found a bit frustrating is not knowing whether or not you should have the knowledge to solve an area when you reach it - a lot of the time you don't until you've progressed elsewhere but it's easy to think you're just missing something.
(Actually - what's really frustrating is the rising lava area which is out of kilter with the difficulty elsewhere).

I hear you on the knowledge bit.
You get the same thing in games like Metroid though, don't you?
I'm almost done on my first run through. I shan't be going for all the secrets and I can't be bothered to decode all the text (it should do this for you when you get the decoder block!).
But this really is an excellent game. I like the nods to older games, I love the secrets even if I won't get them all. It reminds me of Turrican 1. Just expertly done, lots of cool secrets, looks great, sounds good. Despite the obnoxious nature of Fish or whoever it was I wish Fez 2 would be completed.

I'm somewhere in the mid-60 percent and am running out of places where I know how to progress. Quick question about the tetris codes: am I supposed to be able to figure them out before NG+?
SubJeff on 18/8/2013 at 18:21
Yes. There is a place that you will find out.

Thanks. I think I'm at a point (~80%) where I just have to revisit all the places I've been to see whether there are puzzles, doors or bits that I've missed. I'm now attuned enough to the game to figure out some of the anti-cube puzzles - I really enjoyed the one where you have to push around cubes on a 3x3 matrix so they look like specific tetrominoes from the four sides.
I do wish, though, that the map was a bit easier to navigate and that the game included upgrades that allow you to teleport to previously discovered places...
