Got a used copy for $4 + $4 shipping off of Amazon. I look forward to playing the "original" Thief (albeit enhanced with the new content of Gold). Once I complete the challenging episodes, I will get to play all those cool T1 FMs I have not been able to for years. I really do not understand what took me so long to buy a copy. Maybe is was all the new T2 FMs that came out over the past decade +.
I figure playing T1 will be a bit of a challenge, since my skills are really T2 centric. Once thing I will do though is install it first as-is, w/o New Dark. I want to see it and play as it was intended. I will also play the earlier T1 FMs on the old engine. Once that is done, I will patch it and play the newer ones. This is going to be fun :thumb:

That much huh? I hope you and TG will be very happy together! ;)
You've got some smashing newer missions to look forward to. If you're installing without NewDark then if you need any help getting it working then you should find some of the info in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133946) Thief Series FAQ is still useful.

Thanks Nickie, I just got my copy the mail and it is really in nice shape. It is an addition with the 2 CDs + a demo CD and manual. I tried to install it "normally" on an old XP system using the tricks you pointed me to in the FAQ, but no dice. I finally resorted to TFix (new dark) and it works well so far. I really wanted to try out the "old" dark engine with this, but I can't get it to work on my box. No worries. It's a little strange that the default keys are different, like up arrow is run and shift+up is walk. Crouch is f... Little things like that.
I can say that the game is familiar, but very different in feel to me. It is much darker... I think it has better atmosphere than T2 does.
