For the past 12 years I have been building an idea for a couple tattoos I want. I finally started the process last night - outline of a lotus near my left shoulder blade about 5" across:

Black lotus, huh? I'll have to see the finished product before I pass judgement.

Not black per se, just no color. Basically the outline and shading. That's just my thing... I'm not a big fan of colored tattoos.

I agree on the colour issue. Every time I see a coloured tattoo I think of my grandfathers faded springbok that now looks like a patch of mould.

Fresh tattoos always look kinda cool, I just don't like the way how they blur and lose all saturation after about two years. Anyway, good luck.

Pretty cool. One of my mates is big into his tattoos. He got the 7 deadly sins from one of his armpits down to his pelvis but the guy doing them was portuguese and spelt gluttony 'glotony.' My mate has had to get the first o's top picked out to make it look like a u. He's pretty damn pissed.

That's hilarious and sad.

I hope it's intentional that the top leaf looks like pussy and the lowest like a tongue. It looked better without the shading in any case. Tattoos aren't made for shaded stuff but stark black and white contrasts. Like the logo of some unheard of agitprop punk band. Lilies on the other hand are kinda ... I mean jeez, are you a girl? Is this your ass? If not get an appointment for laser removal.
