The only tattoo I have is a copy of my late father's navy tattoo he got for crossing the international dateline in the service. It was his nickname, and luckily it is mine as well. (A play on our last name)

I hope you realise koi are literally giant, gay goldfish
Yes and a lotus is a flower that grows out of the mud and shit from the bottom of a pond. Neither a goldfish for a gay bother me in the slightest - esp. when the tattoo is more about the Chinese dragonfish symbology coupled with the phonetic play on the word in Japanese than an actual koi.

I like it. That's the kind of tree I always draw when I have paper in front of me.

I can, if needed, get a shirt that is long enough to cover it. All in all though, I'm not very interested in working at a place that doesn't accept tattoos like mine to begin with. I wanted to get it to a location, where I can actually see it. I don't get why people tattoo their backs and all.

I kind of get where you are coming from here but it still begs the question; do you really think there is a correlation between tattoo acceptance and a job you'd enjoy?
I don't mind tattoos, per se, it's just that I think 98% look awful. I'm so glad I never got one.

The gist of it is this: the image itself is such a trivial thing (especially since mine is a tree, not a lizard having sex with a woman, a previous work of my tattoist :D) that if there's a workplace that makes it into a problem, there's going to be a problem anyhow. I can conceal it, if needed *(lets say I'm working in retail in some posh place), but if the tattoo itself is a problem, then I'd see it as a strong indicator that the atmosphere of that workplace isn't very suitable for me to begin with.
It would be another thing, if I were to become a lawyer for example, where the whole industry is very anti-tattoo. I am not however.
* Not sure, if I would ever be working at such place anyhow though.
Edit edit edit: I need to link the lizard tattoo mentioned, since it is about the best thing I have ever seen. ((
