I don't think it's really 'anti-tattoo'. My grandfather had a bunch of numbers tattooed on him after the war, and that seemed fine. It's more of an 'anti-why-would-you-pay-for-this-when-it-serves-no-real-purpose-beyond-self-indulgence' sort of thing.
"Oh, it means something to me." Sure it does, and no one cares. There are plenty of things that mean something to me, but I don't feel the need to put those things on display, or involve others in my shit. IT'S MY SHIT, DAMMIT! IT'S FOR ME!!!
(I swear to fucking God, this generation goes on and on about not having any money, then spend it on pointless things to decorate themselves, like they're a walking billboard. Come on giant asteroid! Hit here!)

I was hoping for an asteroid earlier too, because I saw some police documentary "fly on the wall" thing that was following Humberside police.
Don't get me wrong - I like good tattoos. They suit some people and some are really artistic. But I don't like most of them. They're often trite, ugly, badly designed, have terrible spelling and so on.
The ones I like best are proper tribal ones actually, by tribes that do them as tradition.
