well (http://www.saa-intl.com/crossbow.htm) http://www.saa-intl.com/crossbow.htm is pretty close, not fired from a longbow and hooks over things rather than digging into wooden surfaces, but there's no reason why you couldn't use a loop of cord to feed a climbing rope up to the grapnel and back and use it for climbing

need to be a bit beefier to cater for my lardy rear though :laff:
