That video has me excited now. It doesn't look particularly special, but I need my turn-based squad shooter fix, dammit!, and if it can prove that this kind of thing is still profitable then I'll be super happy.
It's still a disappointment that I can't use my favourite Soviet style 'rush them with a horde of poorly equipped rookies' strategy, but if 6 units max worked for Silent Storm, then whatever.

Haven't payed any attention to this earlier, nor do I really care for games of this type that do not have "Frozen Synapse" in the title, but I just watched some of the gameplay and it actually looks pretty good! I like that it's not tilebased, and that you can grapplehook around, and all the action cam stuff is pretty neat too. Plus it seems perfectly playable with a gamepad, which is nice.

Just do it over STEAM. Once enough people pre-order you'll get a free copy of Civ V with it.

I already own Civ 5. I get paid at the start of October and will be instabuying from whoever sells it cheapest.

Hope it's a bit more forgiving than the Aftermath series, ie the last attempt at "modernised UFO" that I tried. Otherwise, yep I'm another 30something nostalgic PC gamer looking forward to this.

It doesn't look terribly forgiving.
I'm playign Aftermath at the moment and regularly rage-quitting when I start a mission riddled with launcher equipped reticulans so I basically start the mission making everyone sprint in different directions in the hope that one combination somehow doesn't cause 3 experienced troops to die in the first 60 seconds.

That was about the point I gave up on Aftermath myself. Wasn't sure if my tactics were wrong, or if I needed to restart the entire damn game and try and build a better trained\equipped force. Couldn't be bothered.

Aftershock and Afterlight were pretty decent, though the latter did tend to get quite micro-management heavy with the crew training. There are lots of decent mods for it though.
