Surely there is a modifier though. I doubt cover will mean *nothing*, else why include it?
Edit: My guess is that the cover affects the chance to hit.

Demo is out on steam.

That's tempting, but since my money already went down on the full game, I'm going to wait.

Is anyone else getting a "No subscription" error when trying to DL the Steam demo? :erg:

Downloading fine this side of the pond. Try changing servers?

I'm getting the same here. It's probably a simple release goofup that'll be fixed in a couple of hours or so.
...which doesn't help, because I want to play it NOW!
Reboot Steam.

Finished the very short demo. More console-y interface than I thought it would have, but I guess you'll get used to it (grumble grumble). I was confused in the base - I'd rather have a control panel with things I can do, lists of information, and so on. The missions are really fun though. I like all the action cam stuff. Seems nice and tactical.
But my god, when will human faces in games stop sucking so damn much?

Played the demo. My God that tutorial level was less hands-on than any other tutorial level ever. When level 2 started off with more tutorials I was like "UMM AM
I GOING TO GET TO PLAY ANYTIME SOON?" Luckily you're only forced to follow the tutorial for the first little bit of level 2 and then you get to figure out the rest of the mission yourself. The combat was alright, not terribly deep. It's not Frozen Synapse or anything. But I can imagine that once you have the R&D stuff, and the politics and the whole business of saving the world to consider as well as the micromanagement of commanding the firefights it could be a complex and rewarding game.
BTW does anyone remember an old tbs game called (
