Firaxis + XCOM, that is all. - by N'Al

I already addressed that above, but thanks for your input also.

That is a sexy screenshot.
Except for bald spess mareen. That cliche needs to be buried forever.

Yeah, it's a cliche and games have been paying homage to Cameron's Aliens for eons; but IRL Yankee military men also have had crew-cuts since WW2, so I don't really have much of a problem with it.
Also there's a huge difference between a screenshot and promotional artwork (this is an example of the latter, obviously).

It's the hair. Rendering all those finely brylcreemed bristles takes precious GPU power that we'd rather spend normal mapping the muscles on their massive, naked forearms instead.

Bah! This doesn't bode well at all.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown comes out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this fall.
Strategy game + gamepad = DOES NOT COMPUTE. Fingers crossed that they're ports and the PC version is the lead SKU.

Final Fantasy Tactics? It doesn't work for RTS, but for Turn Based it's fine.

I'm pretty sure Firaxis of all developers can put proper PC controls in, I wouldn't worry about that too much. As long as they don't turn it into some kind of super-easy, facebook-y, micro-transaction-y Farmville-with-aliens. That developer video is kinda reassuring though.

Agreed. Though with that said I've played the PS1 port of "Terror From The Deep" and whilst its definitely good, the controls difference is clear from the get go. Then again that version had support for the PS1 mouse in addition which I didn't test since I don't have one.
I'll reserve judgement here till I play it either way. Fingers crossed.

Just watched the developer video and I've got to say that I'm very impressed. You get it LOUD and clear that they LOVE the original game and want to make their remake in its image rather than go and drastically change things. And their company is from the "ashes of Microprose" as they mention at the end of the video.

Just don't forget that they're a 2K Games subsidiary and we're all familiar with how 2K goes about hyping their games both in general and to established hardcore fanbases.
