I posted this pic in my thread since it was on the same general subject, but this is what I came up with using an animated TGA on a mesh.
Thanks to shadowspawns Mesh Teak I was alble to Illuminate it.

You should be able to get rid of the render prop and just adjust the bounding box so the particles are offset more towards the player.
The reason the sword blade needs to be transparent is because of a rendering bug; even if the particles are in front of the sword, it still sometimes gets rendered on top.
I have to change the bit in my animated textures tutorial that says 'DromEd will crash if any valid texture filename is in TGA format'.
Your sword looks a little unfinished (the flames don't look like they quite fit around the blade in your picture), but I can certainly see it looking much better than even Eshaktaar's particles ingame; especially when
combined with those particles.

I still can't see it or any of your other recent pics, Schwaa...

Yeah, I know that the mesh arms are weird, I just went in and redid my sword hand model and deleted more back facing polys so the handle doesn't look like it's on top of or cutting thru the hand like the original. That took me awhile to figure out originally. I didn't think it would transfer to particle attachments though.
I didn't quite get your meaning on that last comment though:
1-What do you mean exactly by 'any valid texture name' ?
Did you mean 'invalid'
My names are: burn_,burn_1,burn_2
I have had it crash when i resized all but one, so they all need to be the same size for sure.
And (the flames don't look like they quite fit around the blade in your picture)
I can only think it's one of two things but I'd like to know for sure:
1-that they don't go down to the bottom(of pic) far enough or
2-that you can see the blade thru the flames in spots.
1 I can adjust, it's just an invisible sleeve around the blade with the flame tex
2 I'd have to re-render the tex (easy enough) but I actually made those holes so the blade could be seen more, does it look bad? I guess you could've meant the flames at the triangle on the hilt also, i kinda thought that would look cool, like the flame might be comminh from there.
Should i also illuminate the gems?
thanks for hosting the pics BTW

I could also render these flames with any inner and outer color anyone may want (this goes for the sword or torch flames)
Also, I'm thinking about trying more particle effects, I did snowflakes for a staff in Morrowind.

I wrote a tutorial about animated textures, and I said that trying to usa TGAs would crash DromEd. It seems I must have done something wrong, so that's why I said I should change it.

It just looks like the flame polys are not quite aligned to the sword (slightly higher).

OK, I'll fix that alignment issue, I figured that's what you meant.
