You assume we've accepted everything else...!? You did notice, though, that this discussion was never about anachronism per se? You're actually making this sound awkward in the first place. :weird:
On a related note, just found this one: (

this thread is hysterical
Are we reading the same thread? There's barely anyone not pleased by the trailer, it's an all-time low of thiaf-related negativity besides a few opinions that the bow itself doesn't look too good. What are you on about?
Beleg is being his regular, heavy-handed know-it-all about medieval times but besides him, criticism on the bow is rather fair and reserved, even cheeky with those Crysis and Tomb Raider pics. Anyway, in my opinion, the bow does look like arse. All the rest is promising.

Uhm... the OP did? I didn't think it felt like anime at all, so I'm wondering what that's all about -- if anything the few shots of his face made me think that he looks a bit like Geralt of Rivia... hardly anime inspired.
But then I'm a Rumiko fan, for me anime means pointy jaws and bug eyes... or at least her old stuff like Urusei Yatsura or Ranma 1/2... Not a big Inuyasha fan, but that's probably because that one's a girls series. LOVE explaining that one to friends of mine how DBZ is for 5 year olds, Inuyasha is for girls, Evangelion is for stoners and Sailor Moon is for adolescent boys... Now I'm not saying when they brought them over the marketers COMPLETELY missed the target audiences...
REALLY not getting this 'anime' thing folks are talking about...

It's about two things, really.
One, the face mask, immediately identified with ninjas by some people. Which is just silly, if you ask me.
The second thing, and the one that does warrant some discussion, is the somewhat exaggerated and flashy movements - note how he handles the lockpicks, now that does bring to mind a stereotypical anime ninja. The only thing missing is a psychedelic background and Garrett shouting "Secret taffer lockpick technique!"

The way Garrett's fingers are drawn bother me.

Having seen some of the darker anime stuff (Berserk, Gantz, Hellsing, D:Bloodlust) I can kinda see the resemblance more. Course the two animation arts (Eastern and Western) seemed to have merged a long time ago...
