It's the first cinematics from an unreleased video. I don't think the look is quite finished. I love the bow and scoff at everyone who's complaining about it. Garret has always been one to keep up with modern technology so it's more than ok that he has a better bow now. It's also very probable that a such a bow could be in a steampunk world. It's also a good way to alter the gameplay, if the bow's use differs from the previous titles.
I hate the bow. Here's why.
It's not that I think the aesthetic of a bow type invented in late 20th Century is crass in a game full of historical flavours. Though I certainly do.
It's that I miss the underpowered bow in T1 and T2. I miss having to judge the arc of my arrows' flight. I miss the nuance of having to judge how high I must aim in order to hit my target. I miss the ratcheting up of difficulty that comes with distance. I miss having to use a little bit of judgement, hand/eye coordination and, dare I say it, skill - or at least pseudo skill.
And most of all I miss the sense of achievement I'm rewarded with when it goes right.

Just because it's a neat-looking composite bow doesn't mean it's going to actually work any differently. I have a feeling it's more of a stylistic change, to emphasize the return of the steampunk elements that were more subdued in Deadly Shadows.

christ, I can't stop me knee from jerking with stuff like this. Looks.... ur, no, can't tell. Good? Pop-out bow has definite practical considerations. Running around climbing through windows with even a short-bow over your shoulder could get a bit awkward.

Omg. This might actually work for me. IF this is what T4 is going to be like, then I'm willing to give it a chance. Looks as though 'they' are keeping it in (basically) the same era in which the original 3 took place (thank God no concrete jungle or ghetto-thugs), as well as keeping true to the storyline wherein Garrett loses his eye. Although I really can't say I'm crazy about the ninja-look.
Now all they need is Stephen Russell.

So you deduced the complete functionality of the bow from this video? I'm impressed.

I like how they spend time to show details on tools of the trade. I think the idea of an unfolding bow is pretty interesting and quite possible considering mechanist technologies. The ninja guy looks weird to me though, not sure it fits the Thief universe...
I'll just wait to see ingame screens and videos. But it looks alright so far.

Previously I've also been able to deduce that laser guns shoot lasers and make zapp sounds.

Looks good, much better than Thief 2 trailer where Garrett simply shoots guard... Is it noisemaker or gas bomb or, sorry, did I got it right that he attached "this" to his arrow?

wow and i was so set on everyone here ripping it to pieces and shouting to the heavens about how they'll never buy it but no.. I'm genuinely surprised about the, albeit small, praise about it.
