I think the person with the Ninja outfit is another person than Garrett. Look at the pictures, Garrett's face isn't covered. Perhaps Garrett teaches the young girl at the end of the Thief3 Cutscenes his skills. I looks like hes more in the background and the other thief does the thievery.

wow and i was so set on everyone here ripping it to pieces and shouting to the heavens about how they'll never buy it but no.. I'm genuinely surprised about the, albeit small, praise about it.
Same here. :)
Maybe it won't be a bad game after all.

Hmm, not quite sure what to make of this yet. The fact that they haven't officially released the trailer (even though it's supposedly been done for months) kind of worries me.
That being said, the short clip had some good and some bad things about it. Though I still can't figure out what the tools are that he's preparing at the beginning of the clip. Lockpicks (naturally), and then... he twists an object, something lights up, and then he's tying a knot and tensing it...

Yeah, me too! I'm very pleased! I think it looks great... Yeah, I'm not 100% on the new look bow, or why he has to look like a ninja, but never mind; overall I'm thrilled. THRILLED! I just hope they use Thief-esque breakbeat music. Really, really hope.

I wouldn't be too worried... I think they're probably spending longer on development than they originally planned, I think because of the massive success of Deus Ex 3. The head of EM has said that he wants Thief 4 to be as good, if not better than DE3, and if that means they've pushed it back so they can spend a bit longer on it making sure it's as good as it can possibly be, then I'm absolutely on board with that.
Also, he said that they should be revealing more information about the game before the end of the year.

I presume that little cannister thing is some kind of flash mine, or gas mine or something? And then I think he's aiming an arrow at it to detonate it? Maybe? I dunno.

I like it, except the bow. :p
Muzman on 14/6/2012 at 20:21
Well it looks like the cutscenes might be nice, I guess. I like the way they've imitated, but updated the old style in that clip.
Third person bullcrap still not ruled out, however.

Agree with you on the updated thing Muz. It's an interesting blend of new with a flavour of the old.
I liked this a lot, especially the preparation bit at the start. Can't really tell what he's preparing though; firearrow or lantern? rope arrow?
The bow was fine, cool even. If this is post-T3 then why the hell not? Mechanist tech?
Promising.

I recommend watching it on slow speed in Windows Media Player. The music is... different. It feels almost subversive.

Only thing is this is just a cinematic so of course the connection to the game may not be all that much. It looks like the color palette is more on the dark & "brown" end, not so much the blue of TDS; and maybe our bow and some tools will be like those shown.
Anyway I've always thought Thief is a pretty simple formula for good gameplay, even with all the headaches in TDS, there was still that core sneaking mechanic that makes it fun to play... Sort of like making cereal, hard to screw up if you keep the basic mechanics there. That's a kind of backhanded way of looking forward to it anyway.
