I've played a few matches(against Sulphur and RPS dudes and other folks) and it's insanely fun. Difficult as hell though, so I suggest everyone skate around an empty rink first and get to grips with the controls before delving into the MP matches.
These guys made this game as a one-week sideproject from coding their main production, (
http://www.golfquestionmark.com/) Golf?, which is itself a brilliant free to download game. It's the second best golfing game I've ever played(after Super Stickman Golf on the iPad, natch). Though getting a multiplayer game going is tricky, Sulphur and I didn't manage it at least. Anyway the singleplayer is very fun. It features 10 courses, a golfcart equipped with nitro and an alcoholic robo-caddy. I would just go ahead and download it if I were you.

That looks pretty sweet. I've always thought the idea of a first-person sports game was pretty cool, though it does sound difficult to actually pull off.

Ah that's a henke video - had to look at the uploader when I heard the music selection :D The game looks awesome. I hope there are some players in AU because I would imagine high latency is a bitch in ice hockey

Seems you can slam into people pretty hard and send them flying.
Both of these are pretty fun.

It is. The controls are diffcult enough on their own but playing on a server with ping over a hundred makes it a lot more difficult. It's very easy to swing your club too late and end up missing the puck if there's too much latency. :(
