Mcnils, my fellow taffer, TDS botched 1st person for the sake of 3rd person. We have a right to be mad at the frustration we experienced ONLY with TDS. We consider 3rd person a built-in cheat, and instead of being Garrett, it feels like we remote-control a robot Garrett. NOW, for the NEW game, if they make the body a total slave to the camera, and the body stays out of the way of maneuvering or works harmoniously and intuitively, and the body animation has no effect whatsoever on any movement and looking around, then I can accept it. I also think something needs to be done about the cheating aspect in the official release (not sure how to do that, though), and let the cheaters modify their own CFG and INI files to force it to be their way. It's not narrow-minded, it's the disappointment, ruined immersion, and frustration of an unacceptable corruption of what should've been a solid and more-traditional 1st person from which we speak. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then understand that you are not in a position to speak to our problem.

I voted First person, Third person is a way cheating because you can look behind corners where you would not see in first person and also I don't like third person because it makes me unconfterbul (sorry I don't know how to spell it)

How about this - the human FOV (fild of view) is about 180 degrees. In the games, first person view usually covers 90 degrees. This is a dishonesty for the player, isn't it?
The 3rd view covers more than 180 degrees, that's not good, too.
There should be one and a half view for exactly 180 degrees. :D

I've tried playing with 180 degree FOV and it felt like I was an alien that was moving incredibly fast and everything was far away. 359 degree FOV is even sicker :eww:

It's because the monitors are too short. There should be at least 3 monitors, acting as one, with at least 1920 pixels width, to play the 1st person game in the human way. Otherwise, it feels like Garrett is a horse with covers. ("Кон с капаци" как е на английски, бре? :D)

Heh heh. But it adds to tension, which was pretty well appreciated back in the day.

I prefer playing on first person view, nevertheless i voted in both views so that other people that prefer on 3 person view have the chance to play it in that way, just like on Thief "Deadly Shadows"...Thief should be acessible for all kind of tastes, so we can get a big thief community:)

I love you for this statement.
Here, ladies and gentlemen, is one open-minded player -

I have NO respect for 3rd-person screwing 1st-person, nor designing levels to fit the arcing camera in, nor the cheat factor of it, nor time wasted on a 3rd-person experience that gyps the 1st, nor a body that doesn't obey the camera, nor a camera anchored to a 3rd-person animation.:sly:
Doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with open-mindedness.:p
However, if it were possible to have 3rd-person (I strongly suspect Thief 4 will) without making all those listed mistakes, then okay.
