They made Thief 1st person, because back in 90s it was easier to make games in 1st person. 3rd view requires animation of the player's character, the body has to interact with the virtual realm, etc. But Thief should be played in 3rd person. Leave 1st person to Counter-strike, Quake and other shooters. Tomb Raider is 3rd, Assassin's Creed is 3rd, Blood Omen 2 is in 3rd - these type of games should be in 3rd and Thief is in this category. :sly:

Incorrect!
Thief is personal. Thief is you playing Garrett, not remote-controlling an action figure. The 3rd-person affects everything, and mostly in unfortunate ways. Keep 3rd person for action games where things are supposed to look cool, instead of 1st person hidden Master Thief. If we must have 3rd person, then 1st person needs to be the default and not a slave to the body, the body must always follow the camera without affecting the camera in any way.

You played TDS first didn't you? And you categorize it with TR AC and others? Thief is in the category of "first person sneaker". It has always been. 3rd person is for games. 1st person is for immersion. Games like Half-Life, Crysis and Far-Cry 2 do a terrific job with immersion, because everything that happens in-game is viewed through your eyes. Leave 3rd person to games where you need to see the cool moves that your character executes, or games where the core gameplay elements are ass and titties.

I think you guys need to look at the 'sly' smiley and realize he was joking.

You should try to sound a bit more stupid. Then the hilarity of someone taking your ideas seriously is even funnier. :cheeky:
Example:
"Why are they suddenly making Thief 4? Thief came out in 2003 and I haven't heard or any Thief 2 or 3 come out after that..."

I forgot the teasing smiley to show I was playing along with the joke.:p
My "Incorrect!" was meant to be over-the-top.

Now I really miss the "Additional 3rd person if 1st person works perfectly" option. 3rd person is always great for playing around, doing videos etc., and that's what we all do after a while.

QFT. Thats the tasty juice of what we're all saying. Other way around works too,
i think 1st person could be improved a lot, and i'm talking about body awareness.
