For me, only 1st person. However, they should provide both options so people can choose

Seconded. Immersion is the whole point of Thief, always has. If I'm not inside Garrett's shoes immersion is broken - and there goes the experience as well.
I voted 1st person only, but both options can draw in more potential buyers, so it's most likely a done deal.

judging from the DXHR leak footage Eidos doesn't really know which perspective to use either. They decided to just randomly switch back and forth without any playercontrol over it it seems. so don't be surprised if Thief has 1st person for shooting arrows or using the sword and switches to 3rd in cover or during the slowmo takedowns that get filmed with a floating cam.

Well I actuallly like 3rd person in T3 so I like both views and if Morrowind & Oblivion has a change perspective button the so should Thief.

, the so should Thief.
:weird:
Why?
The third person perspectives in both those games are
horrendous.

It's not an option, it's an imposition. Third-person makes for a compromised first-person experience, on several levels.:(

No matter how many times we prove that 3rd person compromises the 1st person experience (and ultimately the game as a whole), there will be those who refute this out of ignorance or denial...or worse, they will say that we only support this notion because of a preference for the 1st person experience.
Will it ever end?..:(
