As you probably knows, the backward-compatible Xbox versión played on a Xbox-360 has an awful bug: all kind of torches, fires... any source of light can be seen through walls, making the game unplayable.
The files of the game has the same structure of the game on PC, so we have a DEFAULTS.INI file, and so on. Do you think there is any parameter in some of this .ini files I could modify to avoid that effect of lights been seen through the geometries?
PD: sorry my english :/
Thanks !

Sugestion: Please get a PC. ;)
Nothing against you personally, but consoles are ruining games for everyone who liked playing great games.

Well, that response was just plain not hepful at all. And stupid. And wrong. There are plenty of good and bad game for both consoles and PCs.
Anyway - @uukrul78, wouldn't changing files on a (read only) disc be impossible anyway? Or are you talking about some scenario with a modded 360?

There's nothing like PC Games. You can patch them, modify them at will, play fan missions, etc....
I'm still stunned by the popularity of consoles, considering how restrictive they are.
Uukrul, I suggest buying the PC version and playing that. You can get it for cheap on Amazon, and probably even cheaper on Steam

I already played Thief 3 on PC back in 2004. 11 years later, I have bought the game for Xbox on eBay, only to discover that is a brilliant adaptation; in fact, as far as I know, this game was designed with the Xbox in mind.
@Brethren
Yes, I have a modded (RGH chip installed) Xbox360. With that, I can replace and edit any file of the disc.

I can imagine a workaround toggling light emitters (because the SFX are what you see through the walls, right?) depending on a direct line of sight, but that would involve whole new map files I'm afraid. :erg:

Yes, ALL sources of light can be seen through the walls and floors (torches, fireplaces, the blue clouds of the transition areas...)
New map files, are you sure? This game is (at least the PC versión) heavily configurable through his .ini files. The Xbox version keeps the same file structure, with the same .ini files. Dont you think there would be a parameter to configure the volumetric lights, shadows... I dont know... something related with "lights" that fix this bug, without re-rendering the maps files?

I really don't want to get to a fight here, but brethren, let me just name TWO games this community likes: Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3. Both were a portalized crappy PC version made for crappy consoles. Bathroom-sized cathedral due to xbox and playstation memory limitations. This should be enough argument. Some game developers nowadays are, thankfuly developing PC and Crapsole versions separated.
A good example nowadays is Unreal Engine 4. It acts as a single-platform development, and in the end reduces quality for the console part/port.

The general problems of console games are, however, not the topic of this thread, hence Brethren's first objection.
@uukrul: Can you provide a screenshot as an example for the bug? The problem I see is that there would be a specific "do not render emitters when BSP or static meshes block the view" option necessary within any of the ini files. That's so unlikely that I doubt one can do anything about it. Speaking of that, I'm not even sure I could provide a workaround for PC using T3Ed.

Just starting a random comment war against consoles won´t really help.
