I've been all over found millions of keys, the book but it won't
check off it the objectives. Found Xavier's body downed the guards
and found my weapons. How do I get outta here. Oh, yeah went down the manhole and I was killed by Frog Beasts but found a closed grate. Any hints appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Hawklette! Decided to try posting over here, did you?
Are you sure you got the correct book? I've never had any problem with that objective ticking off. There are books everywhere that you can pick up, so is it possible you ended up with the wrong one?
To end this mission, you have to go into a room with one control switch in it, down by the water where you can swim up from the caves. You can also get to it by going down to the lowest level of the library part (down where the storage rooms are) and going down a manhole. At the bottom of the ladder down from the manhole, you go right to get to the room with the lever in it. After you've thrown it, go back to the bottom of the ladder but keep on going past it and you should be able to get to a room where the mission ends. I hope that's not too confusing, but I find it hard to describe where stuff is in this mission.

Hi Nightwalker. Yes I check the name of the book with the one
mentioned in the scroll. I think I know where you mean to get out.
I am wondering if the problem is I didn't read the scroll until
after I got the book. Another think, do you remember where the river is and a wooden bridge. In the beginning I climbed out there and it had an archer over head. There are two doors there and I don't know if I am supposed to be able to reach them. I also saw a room with a rosary and book but can't find it either. Anything else you remember would be great. Thanks

Doing things in the wrong order could be causing a problem as far as the book objective goes. You never know for sure if something like that is going to mess the mission up.
The spot you're talking about with the archer sounds like way up at the top above the library. You can get in both of those doors up there. There is a way to swim in, but I can't remember where you start for that bit, because I've never used it. You can also get there through the library. If you go all the way through the library, you end up at a courtyard with one Hammer patrolling and one Hammer standing guard by a door on the left hand side. On the right hand side of that courtyard is a door to a storage room. Go through there and you'll get to the part you described. That's the easy way to get to the end part, now that I think of it! If you go out where you can see the archer overhead and through the far door, the first door on your left will open onto a set of stairs down to the storerooms and the sewer hatch that I described before.

Maybe it's the New Dark engine, but I cannot play this on expert. As soon as I enter the mission a hammer imediately starts alerting. I'm in shadow from the beginning, and I haven't moved at all, then I get the "mission failed" message. Do I have an older version or something?

I guess I just can't play this mission. I finally got to it in my FM play through. I remembered I couldn't play it on expert, so I knew I would only be playing this one twice. Started it up on normal, and the guard alerted. Sat there waiting as he ran in place against the wall for him to calm down. 2 hours later, and he was still running in place.
I have no idea what's causing this, but I can't play the mission. Any ideas if there is going to be any sort of fix for this in the future? Not really much of an editor myself, and don't really know how to go about fixing it.

I looked at the mission in Dromed and fixed several things, including some of the lighting that had an infinite radius. The Hammer guard now patrols as he should, so let him pass by before trying to pick the lock. Unzip the (

I appreciate you making a fix for such an old FM, but this updated .mis file wasn't enough to get this playable on ND. Not on my setup at least.
I overwrote my miss30.mis with the one you provided. It definitely fixes some things, the lighting is different and the first hammerite does not start a fight with one of the other prisoners. However he still doesn't behave properly for me. I get a first alert from him the second the mission starts, resulting in mission failure on Expert. Also once he reaches the key rack in the other room he faces the direction he came from and doesn't budge.
I'm using a pretty fresh install of Thief Gold with TFix 1.18d and I loaded the FM with FMSel.

D/L and try again. The wait time at the one trolpt, where the guard "reads" the bulletin board was 45 seconds. I reduced it to 4 seconds. I also changed the Team values on the prisoners so that the guard won't keep alerting on them. If it still doesn't work, you'll have no choice but to delete the guard altogether (or, I can put an invisibility potion into your inventory.)
