ok, I guess.

Wow, someone is on a power trip, I guess.

I don't even know what to say either. I mean, he's saying that he doesn't like how I do things - anyone is free to like/not like things, so all I can do is be ok with that.
anyway, as I've said, if Sperry really wants the nail gone (despite this being a completely optional download/addon nobody has to use unless they want), I'll remove it, no problem. also, the fm repo is accessible, anyone can check, comment, ask for stuff etc, and I'm always ready to improve/fix/remove stuff as necessary. I really have no idea what else could be done.

Voodoo you just don't get it do you.
You have no right, absolutely no right whatsoever to change anything in a FM, even worse you once placed a fence in one of the OMs, not because there was a problem with the mission, but because you liked the idea of a fence where there wasn't one beforehand.
As the person who maintains TFix you role is to fix problems that crop up with each new ND release, fix the occasional bug, and make the game flow as freely as possible for all players.
It is NOT your role or right to change anything else because YOU do not like it. PERIOD
There is no argument about this most basic of rules, nobody agrees with you so your excuse of ‘if an author does not like what I have done they can always ask me to change it back' is beyond stupid it's like a 6 year old having a tantrum. No player is going to edit a dml (btw not easy, done it many a time and they are very touchy things, one typo and you can seriously f**k up both the dml and FM) because after having played a mission and then read the forum thread they find out that the nail should have been a splinter.
Regardless as to whether Sperry contacts you or not please remove that section of the dml, and please agree to never do such as self appointed amendment to a FM again.
PS. One important note is that in my walkthrough and other forum posts players are told to look for a splinter, not a nail, this undoubtedly will lead to player confusion.

so basically, your opinion on how things are supposed to be done is.. more valid than mine somehow? also you define my role in all this? ooo-kay.
look guys, seriously, TFix lite, it's been made especially for people who do not want ANY mods, addons or tweaks. TFix full adds, mods and tweaks, it is pretty much what it does, and it exists for that very reason/purpose. if you go full, you'll get modified stuff (clearly declared in the home topic).
but fine, no nail in the next release. it's not like you aren't getting whatever you want every single time, only to find something else to nitpick about later. and not in a polite manner, I might add.

Jesus Christ trying to get any point across to him is like trying to squeeze water from a rock.

What don't you understand in "don't modify stuff from other peoples' missions because you feel like it, especially if you don't have their express consent?". You're a clever person, you must at least get that this is extemely rude.

pretty sure I get it, I just don't agree with you. same with the grate of hate - that place is so easy it's broken. what's broken should be fixed, end of story. Gecko didn't remove the fix from his map, did he? maybe his approach of "I'm doing what I like, you have no say in this" is better after all.
anyway, I think we are done here as far as the nail goes - if you feel like proving my point of you guys never having enough no matter what I do, feel free to post more.

because that's what I like to do, being a modder of sort? take old abandoned stuff, polish it up, make it work better (and yes, I do have preferences, those will affect the final product). people don't mind, mostly (as it's old and abandoned). also, I'm not that clever.
I'm also fine with other people taking my mods, and building on them (despite not liking it in certain situations, SS2 modpacks would be a good example).

Thank you for agreeing to delete the nail, but we're not nitpicking, we all have seriously held beliefs that authors works must never be changed for cosmetic reasons.
My reason for feeling so strongly about this issue is that I have spent 1000's of hours so far fixing older T2 missions and all that good work would be for nothing if the integrity of dmls are so diminished that authors, past and present, started to request the ceasing of making dmls because they feared that at some future date someone may choose to change something in their missions that went completely against their express desires.

You're fine with people building upon your stuff but keep in mind a lot of people do not share this sentiment and want their work left alone. There is a difference between fixing something that is obviously broken in someone's work (such as non-functional objectives), but changing something that isn't broken just because you think it's better is a line that shouldn't be crossed, unless you have the author's blessing. Even if I don't like what you did with TFix's change in The Haunted Cathedral, at the end of the day you're modding a game that allows it. Doing it to other peoples' work is just not cool though. It's not against you personally, but actions like this undermine trust. I'm not saying you did this, but what if instead of modifying an object this time someone decided to take a mission, fix a critical bug but also decided to retexture the entire mission and change all the sounds to other ones because they thought it was better this way? See where I'm going? (this is actually something that happened to a TDM mission a few years back and the original author was rightfully pissed).
