because that's what I like to do, being a modder of sort? take old abandoned stuff, polish it up, make it work better (and yes, I do have preferences, those will affect the final product). people don't mind, mostly (as it's old and abandoned).
I think one of the issues here is that you advertise your project as a patch or a fixxer, not a mod. Most patches don't make creative or artistic decisions, they fix bugs. And since your "patch" is the only one available here that updates Old Dark to New Dark for T1G, I think most players are assuming it's strictly doing technical things under the hood.
That's why I made the "power trip" comment earlier in the thread. You're in the unique position to make personal choices for a project that most people here depend on to update their Thief installation, and you don't hesitate to abuse it.

yes, but "everything is forbidden" is just as bad "anything goes" - it's something inbetween, and opinions on where the line is will inevitably differ (and as far as I'm concerned, changing an object that looks like it were used just because nothing better has been available into something that makes much more sense there is really not a problem). anyway, no matter what you do, there are always going to be some people who won't like it, so generally, doing what you think is right and ignoring them is the sane thing to do.
it would be hilarious if Sperry were to comment on this entire situation and reveal that he really just didn't have a proper custom object at hand back then, and simply had to make do with the vanilla stake object. and being ok with the nail (which would be much better suited for a makeshift lockpick situation).

that's why I take all feedback very seriously (I think I've reverted changes people deemed inappropriate every single time, no matter whether they were mine or someone else's). and the description in the home topic is accurate, I believe.

Hey Voodoo, is there another storage to get the newdark fixes for some of the fan missions? I tried through your old thread, but it requires Google access and permission.

You do not need to manually install any of the T1/TG dml's as they are are all automatically loaded when playing with TFix installed.
If you want to see which ones are in TFix check the dbmods sub folder in the FMdml folder in your TG install.
