FMs with secret ancient crypts/tombs/temples/libraries, etc...? - by slavatrumpevitch

I was reflecting on a lot of my favorite FMs, and I noticed a major commonality: many of them have secret crypts/tombs/temples/libraries etc... that you would never have guessed would be there, at the start of the mission, but end up being a major part of the plot. Some examples:
1. Ominous bequest, with the underground mages area, and also the crypt
2. Broken Triad, with the riddlers tomb, not to mention that entire second level!
3. (Very recently) Skacky's Chalice of Souls, with the Keeper Library
4. Lady Rowena, with the locked-off pit in the backyard
5. A meeting with Basso has Arkhyn's tomb (although it's not plot relevant, still cool!)
6. The Korigans, with the goblin city
7. The Den, through the fireplace, I think it was?
I could list more, but I think y'all get the point. Are there anymore missions like this that I should try? I checked in the Mission Types thread, but I didn't see anything there that would speak directly to this questions.
Thanks!

The 2013 FM The Drymian Codex, which I did with Random Taffer and Tannar, has two different crypts, as well as a hidden temple which is central to the plot. Also the final mission of Calendra's Legacy of course has a large Keeper Library area.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Something about this crisp autumn weather makes me feel very thiefy :)

It's a great little mission, but it does not have a secret crypt/ tomb/ library as described in the question
It has a locked room that you need to work out how to get into but that's not unexpected as it's your long term goal

Then there are at least two missions in the "Sturmdrang Peak" campaign. In "Forgotten Depths", Garrett is
thrown into a large underground area which, as the title says, is mainly forgotten by people. Although the mission objectives tell the player that he is in some underground caves right at the beginning of the mission, one is still caught by surprise at the end of the mission before "Forgotten Depths".
In "Hubris and Humidity", Garrett travels through other areas where almost no (still living) man has gone before:
The catacombs below one area, and certainly Mohana's Temple, which is located below the island, and considerably large.
Back to the dawn of time (for fan missions, at least): "Curse of the Ancients" starts in a small town where not everything is as it first appears. After discovering that the town is inhabitated by
undead now, Garrett has to dive deep into the caves below the local cemetary, where a large area of crypts, some with riddles or traps,
awaits the master thief.
The "Ruins of Originia" campaign also has several hidden areas. This already starts in the first mission, where Garrett
finds a very large mine system below the mining town in which he starts his adventure.
These "Mines of Margroth" are not the last underground areas to discover in the campaign, however. For example, there's also a strange museum in the last mission, with
several areas to travel to, which is not apparent in the beginning.
Both examples do not feature too many crypts or libraries (although there are some), but maybe you can file it under "etc.".;)
More recently, there was "Death's turbid veil", which starts in the garden of a mansion, but brings the player into
a large cave system, including a mine and an area with several crypts.
Underground travel also awaits you in "Ritual" (or maybe "The Ritual"), where Garrett travels to another city in order to rescue an old friend's daughter. Turns out she has been
captured by a murderous cult living below the city's cemetary to serve as a ritual sacrifice.
Guess where you'll be going then.:cheeky:
"Sepulchre of the Sinistral" throws you into some crypts as well. Of course,
these crypts feature some not-so-pleasant inhabitants, as well as several riddles
"A Night in Rocksbourg 3: Ink and Dust" plays exclusively in a large underground area, and you'll find
a Keeper-like library right in the beginning. But that's just the start, there are some much darker and pants-wetting caves there. And you have to go through them, of course.
The "Darkstone Gem" campaign (part 1, so far) is another "must play" for your list. In the first mission, you begin in a large city, but there are
caves infested with thieves, mages and monsters right below the cityscape. You'll find a few tombs to loot as well, if you survive so far.:ebil:
The other missions partially play in some underground areas as well, although Garrett usually gets a glimpse of what is to come right before the appropriate missions start. However, there's also a hidden
Keeper library along the way, which has to be searched thoroughly for the information it provides.
"Bones Ep.1: The Old Quarter" includes some caves as well, with
several smelly, rotting and unpleasant undead waiting to nab your ass. In a crypt area, of course.
However, the city quarter part of the mission is not too small either.
Well, I think that's enough for now.:D

Cryptic Realms: the whole mission is sort of a tomb complex but there are also some secret areas within.
