Just came across this thread. What a great idea, but sounds like it's too complicated. Did you ever get it to work at all? It sounds like you got it sort of working but not quite how you wanted it?

I remember there is a footstep object but I don't know who made it or where to find it. As soon as I find it I'll post its location here.

IIRC NV had a demo mission which included footsteps . . . maybe this? But maybe in water and not snow ... ?
