I'm sure that's well meant but self-doubt and crisis are hardly a privilege of old people.

Well, this is timely. 23-year-old me is turning in the draft of my book on Thursday, and after that it's time for a short, intense period of job/housing searching and making some big long-term decisions.
Fun trend: (
http://www.economist.com/node/17722567). Short answer is that, on average, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Post-college years are (obviously) the most difficult economically, particularly now. I, for one, am not excited about all the dead-end jobs that await me. Best case scenario is I move back to Seattle and get something in the game/tech sector, but doesn't seem likely right now.
The LA film industry can be pretty brutal (I'm sure you know that). Also, it's in LA. Bleh.

There's nothing wrong with L.A.
If you don't enjoy LA it just means that you aren't sophisticated or cultured enough to enjoy it

It was the same sentiment that Queue had uttered before and it's not exactly uncommon. That's why I mentioned it.

They may not be, but you're ignoring the real point of the message: the way you deal with these things at any age remains the same - get off your ass and do something instead of meditating helplessly on whatever it is that's worrying you.

I know there are people who have more significant problems and that mine are, by contrast, pretty common. But driving around listening to Explosions in the Sky can only bring so much introspection to someone
