Realised I was about to catch up with not one ttlger, not two ttlgers, but four ttlgers and almost hadn't posted a thread.
Out of respect, here is that thread.
I'm in Revelstoke BC for the next week or so, learning to snowboard on a mountain that everyone looks at me weird and says: "Why are you learning HERE?". This is not a beginner mountain. This is intensely steep and heavy snow and awesome. I've done 1 day on a board so far and am fucking loving it. I know a guy from Brisbane who is here and so I'm buddying up with him for drinks etc at night time.
I apologise to my beautiful Canadian brethren who I cannot see this trip but the Aja's and holy fuck I can't remember his TTLG handle's of this world will see me sooner or later.
Next is STITCHVILLE U.S.A. Meeting the woman who was lucky enough to snag my man and then work on winning her over into Camp Scots Is Awesome. There's a rival camp called Scots Is Shit but thankfully there's not a lot of followers.
Next up is DOWNTOWN FAFHRD, where he's gonna show me ALL OF THE LIGHTS and I'm going to love and cuddle him, then get him laid with a lady. And go to universal studios while he works off his hangovers.
Then it's a whistle stop flight to MANDA-ALEX-BI-COUNTY-AREA where I will drink wine, MAKE FIRE, COOK MEAT, TALK OF TIMES PAST, SING SONGS OF OLD and possibly smoke weed? I dunno. GBM always seemed like a hippy.
That's it bitches. No big updates coming here - if you want more, PM me and we can Facebook connect. *slow wink*

Didn't realize you travelled so close to my home. Last time I was in Revelstoke was for a gig at a bar who's name I can't remember. We were hired to play for 3 hours, but the owner let us go with full pay and all the perks we had in the green room when a bus full of drinking college kids showed up by surprise and told him all they wanted was the DJ to pump as much bass as possible.
all in all it wasn't a bad arrangement. Got paid twice the rate and still got to party.
Revelstoke is only about an 8 hour drive from here.

I'm also in BC (though a bit far away from where you are, ha!).

Yo it seems counter-intuitive but steeper slopes are easier to learn snowboarding on. It's easier to hold an edge and there is less distance between yo ass and the ground when you slip out. It does make turning a little scarier, but just think serpentine and you'll get it soon enough. Goddamn I am looking forward to going shredding next month. I'm actually getting a deck big enough for me this time. Been making do with a 142 hot-pink ride girls deck I got for £30 off ebay(!) because I've been poor as shit. I'm 6ft so it's uh, a bit small, but it's been loads of fun. Pops/spins like hell on toast. But pretty useless in powder.

BC is a far better place to visit than Alberta, anyway, so I don't take it personally. But come to Edmonton some time and I'll show you the best small venue in Canada and this one great bar that serves drinks with names like "Meathook."

Or you could try skiing instead.
You all missed a good time this past weekend. I spent the weekend out in the middle of the "polar vortex" all day. To make matters even more interesting I was one of the only people there that was a crazy enough bastard to make my way back to Blue Sky Basin in that weather...though I did think twice about that decision. Between gale force winds, temperatures below zero, thick powder, zero visibility and few other skiers I wouldn't have made it out of anything went wrong.
