Update: The price is now $ 9.99 USD at GamersGate.
Bummer for those of us who already got the Eidos download. I'm confused about the file size, though, it seems to be too small.
Still $ 19.99 at Eidos and their affiliate trygames.com.

Hmmmmm!

Well well...the marketing people are no longer doing their homework, nor are they making sure their advertising is accurate.:sly:
Twelve treacherous missions...and then some! Hahaaa! We snuck some extra stuff in while you weren't looking!

I just went ahead and emailed their support.
Here's the gist of it:
Quote:
* The cover as shown is for Thief: The Dark Project (TDP), not Thief Gold (TG).
* The description mentions twice that the game features has 12 missions. TDP has 12 missions, TG has 15.
* The downloadable installer for TG from Eidos' affiliate trygames.com is 629.88 MB. You list yours as 474.45 MB.
In short, I suspect that you're marketing TDP as TG. Could you clear this up for me, please?
Thanks in advance.

Oh boy, that'll be interesting. Let us know what they say. I'd like to hear it.

Interesting. I bought TG online here in Germany (16,99€) via the game section of web.de (which is a free mail account provider here), but the selling company was actually Bluefish Media Store, which belongs to Eidos (now) as far as I know. And they made the same mistake with the cover - they also used the normal Dark Project cover instead of the Thief Gold cover. I also emailed them about this;), asking if it really was Thief Gold, but never got a replay.
I decided to give it a chance and bought it nonetheless and it is indeed Thief Gold. The only issue I have is, that to reinstall the game you need to download it again, so I do hope very much, that the company doesn't go bankrupt...

Same price as the Eidos affiliate Trymedia Systems, whose (

I backed up the downloaded install file called ThiefGoldSetup.exe. It's about 630 megs.
However, to activate an installed game one still needs a Net connection... and the controlling server to be online.
Same for GamersGate, btw, as (
http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3&Itemid=17#9) mentioned in their FAQ:
Quote:
Q: Do I need an Internet connection in order to play the game?
A: No. An internet connection is only needed during the installation process and the first time you run the game. After that no more internet connection is required.
OMG, I just had a look at their (
http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=22) Terms of Use document. It comes across... as kind of gross.
