Risquit + new video card = thief 3,
new video card = $,
Risquit = -$,
-$ + $ = 0,
0 < thief 3

Simply stated, the game WILL NOT BY ANY MEANS RUN ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN WINDOWS XP. Even Win2K is... sketchy... although it's supposedly "supported."
I have Win98SE installed on my computer. The computer itself is top-of-the-line... fast CPU, 512 of PC3200 DDR SDRAM, a GeforceFX 5900 Ultra... you name it. And since Win98 is 32-bit, with the same command set as WinXP... there is no OS-specific reason it should not work.
The demo runs fine on my Win2K system, so I suppose the full version does so, too.
As for Win98 being equivalent to WinXP: not really. WinXP and Win2K are NT-based while Win9X/ME are not. This is a huge difference, since NT-based systems are not only real multi-user systems, but are also more stable by design.

You see I have all the requirements, except I have Nvidia Gefoforce 4MX video card, nuff' said.
You should upgrade your video card, a GF4 MX is worse than a GF3. But you should get at least a GeforceFX 5700/equivalent or higher, since the chip on the 5200/5600 lacks the speed needed to do fast shadows.

I haven't bought it because my computer is crap. I'm waiting either for February 2005 for a new computer or some time later this year for an XBox.

Easier said than done, I don't have any money ot buy a new one, I just want to see if it'll work.

I think my Pc is good enough, its just that i'm not buying T3 mainly because i want to finish T1 & 2 for the first time on expert. Just finished Thief1 last night (took me 6 months :ebil: second time through ever) and i'm moving on to T2 tommorow. Besides that, i thought the waiting would be worth it cuz they might release a patch for some urgent problems that might arrise, and i'm figuring it might be a couple bucks cheaper in a few months :ebil: .

I don't think it'll work for that card. Deus Ex 2 didn't.
I have the same card, and will eventually upgrade, but since most games play perfectly fine and look nice on it, there isn't tons of motivation behind it.

:erg: Thief 3 will hit india the 2nd week of july or 1st week of june whichever is earlier or works best for the importers.
The demo works fine with Radeon 9800 pro on a RdRam based asus p4t533-R
512mb ram - Rimm 4200 and 2.4Ghz cpu. no tweak or o/c just switching off explorer (it helped with far-cry)
37fps - 42fps
and lowest 14 fps with 4 people after me in third person mode
wait i got news its retailing for Rs 999 i.e. US$ 20 first week of june.
hooray for poverty, famine, disease, hunger, illiteracy, widespread economic malaise, the social class distinctions[Nude boy in VC], first world indifference and all other things characteristic of the 3rd world.

I'm trying to finish up building a T2 FM, am helping out with another and I have relatives coming from out of state in a couple of weeks  That means all that lovely yardwork that I successfully put off ... has to be done. TDs would be too much of a distraction.
