A lot of reasons. The PC I use for gaming almost certainly wouldn't be able to run it. I haven't gotten TMA yet. The price will go down after a while. If an editor is ever released (I have my doubts, but one can hope :p), then there'll be FMs out, there are other games I want, and I've still got a lot of T1 fan missions to play, along with T2 fan missions once I get it, not to mention all the games I have that I haven't finished....

I haven't bought it because I just got a lovely new laptop a couple months ago. I insisted on the computer with the biggest video card there, and it turns out that it won't handle it. And since upgrading my video card is out of the question, I won't have it for quite a few years. Unless I get an Xbox. *snicker*

I did not buy Thief 3 because I thought the demo was crap. The movement feels like i've got two broken legs. I did not like the bugs in game and mapping was done sloppy, there are at least 5 locations in the first map where I can see the skybox. The guards shoulder pads are see through if you crouch near them. Garrets hands stop moving when you are picking the "sweet spot" but you hear the lock click open. And then there's the difficulty bug. How could they let this get through testing? :nono:
I'll wait for some more patches and an SDk if any.
I don't know if my Minimalist Project will work on the Demo, but give it a try to see if that improves your playing experience. I disliked the movement as well, but now it's much smoother...Garrett doesn't feel drunk. Oh, and it's geared to be a bit harder too.
You can get it
(

I tried your project. It crashed the demo and I had to re-install because there was no way to uninstall it if I recall correctly.

Hmmmm, there should be an option to uninstall in Add/ remove programs for the project, but it was never designed to work with the Demo so I couldn't say if it would work or not, just thought it might since most of the files should be in the same place. Oh well.

Demo didn't run. Computer too prehistoric. Probably pick it up in some bargain bin in a few years.

I don't know. I played the demo and thought it was OK.
I haven't been interested in any new game for quite a long time. Well, I haven't really even tried many of those... The last one that really sucked me in was Pro Evolution Soccer 3, that's the game that I usually play when I have time to play something...
...and I haven't completed Thief 2 yet. :o

Ive been playing:
Red Orchestra
Descent Freespace
Stronghold Crusader
Day Of Defeat

1. Requires XP - not interested, too vulnerable.
Im not gonna change your opinion here, but come on. Everything is vulnerable. Live a little. buy a cheap HD, and only use xp for thief. could even unplugg.
and xp is just as secure as any other windows out there. which isnt saying much. but thats another rant.

I don't dispute your point, but XP has a much bigger target painted on it...
Edit: and it's an additional ~$80 for XP home edition..so I'd rather spend it on other things.
I'm not "anti-XP" just don't feel I need it that badly.
And I'll flip the editor point around, maybe I would be willing to invest in a new graphics card and operating system if there was and editor. As it is, not worth it, not just for one game. I'll probably break down in a year or so when I can't play any of the new games on this machine...
