Praise the Builder! I'm a taffer reborn!
I finally decided to get Thief 3. I delayed for so long because I read very mixed reviews about it, and I already had felt that Thief 2 was a disappointment compared to thief 1 (except life of the party!). So, I had little hope left for the Thief franchise and felt that nothing could ever get me close to the feeling I had playing through the original thief, but Thief 3 proved me wrong.
Anyway, after playing through Thief 3 once, I think it's a brilliant game (especially the later levels: the clocktower, the cradle, etc.) I thought the developers did a very good job at satisfying old fans of the series by bringing back old favorites like the undead and references to burricks (the game could have used a few revamped burricks!). I thought Gamall was a great villain--she was what I had always hoped Karras would be instead of the little gimp with a gold mask and a droopy-dog voice that he turned out to be.
I love the walking statues. I love backstabbing.
Balance.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the game. :) You'll want to keep in mind though, that it is generally frowned upon to resurrect old threads. This one is from 3 years ago.

So what? I don't understand this.
Anyway I haven't got Thief 3 yet because I only recently have bought a modern computer, and also because of the mixed reviews. Also because it sounds like there are lots of issues getting it run, depending, on your system. If I can still find a cheap copy, I will get it.

It's bad taste because it's generally deceptive in a not-cool way.
Most people assume a thread high in the list is a live conversation that they might want to contribute to, and so they invest time in reading.
But if it's a very old resurrected thread, it means a person spending all that time to read four pages will suddenly realize 3 pages in that the whole discussion is a dead one -- the conversation is over, all the points have been forgotten about, nobody that contributed to it will be looking forward to whatever you have to say, much less care. So it wastes people's time (like mine in just reading 3 dead pages) without any real added benefit.
It might be different if there really is an added benefit, such as keeping FM hints together or very specific/technical information on a topic in one place. But a general discussion like this, it'd be much better to just start a new topic and then cross-reference the old thread with a link so people can read the old one only if they want to. It's not a hard rule, just good karma.
That said, on the topic itself, I STILL haven't played TDS because my computer isn't up to par. But I bought it the day it came out anyway, just to support the cause. All part of calling one's self a fan, I guess.

Well, see? You've just contributed to the topic.
All of the other forums I'm on, if someone posts a new thread, the mods would immediately jump on him/her to use the SEARCH function.
Anyway, almost 3 years later and you still can't play it. That's dedication! Is it still easy to find, cheaply?

Bump. Just got it, long time to install, some issues, now playing fine. Playing Rutherford Castle. Pretty cool, nice lighting effects. Don't like the leaning. Also don't like all the loading in new parts of the map.
