I posted this in another thread, but I'm still very curious...
Why is everyone so hooked up on the child from the last cutscene in TDS? TDS was meant to end the series. That's why it ended the way Dark Project started. It was kind of a poetical move or something. It didn't end like that because Garrett would train a kid in the supposed next Thief game, since a T4 was not even thought of. At least not as a straight follower to the trilogy (as some of you know, a potential T4 was first thought to be set in a modern environment.)
So my humble wish to the DEVS of T4 is: forget all about the kid in the end of TDS. PLEASE! It would be such a cliche.

I agree with what you are saying, and the people from EM would be fools if they took the girl as protagonist (and I'm sure they won't do that), but I hope they will make just a side story of her. (Maybe somewhere in the game you get a note of how good the girl is in her Keeper education - and that's all you'll hear.)

I think here is where we get into the different interpretations of each Taffer. Some might agree with you, that the ending cutscene in TDS was more or less seen as a way to bring Garrett's saga full circle. However there are a lot of other Taffers who would like to believe that the TDS end cutscene was a hint of what could become (possibly) a starting point for T4. Each person has their own interpretation of what that final TDS cutscene meant.
Who knows what the T4 devs are thinking at this point? Judging from some of their backgrounds, we could end up with just about anything!

Go on then, wish her away.

I'm going to repost my comments too:

I agree. New kid getting captured by Hammers/Bluecoats and being rescued by Garrett would be terribly unoriginal. It never ceases to amaze me that anyone would think it would be a good direction for the game to go in. It's almost as if a large number of people have been drained of imagination.

It could be that if one little girl could see Garrett, who knows how many other talented sneaks there are out there?

Or maybe since the glyphs are gone, the keepers as well as Garrett don't have the power to not be seen in public anymore and the girl was proof of that?

Or ..... it could be that Garrett just isn't paying proper attention to his light-meter anymore. :p

Ignore her, forget her, and, if possible, retcon her from existence!
