santaClaws - LOL. That was a really violent and shocking agreement.
BackDoorBandit - Thats cool that you talk to him all the time - but i dont quite understand the significance of the "You must not get out much".

You didn't catch what I was saying?
Ahhhh man. Here's what I meant. You said something like, "...sounds kind of threatening" because of his title on the thread, and I said, "You must not get out much" because of what you said. In other words, the world is full of a bunch of hatred people who make threats all the time....I don't think Warren would take this title as a threat....not even close to one.
Got it?
BTW, I didn't mean it like that, like I talk to him ALL the time, but I speak with him frequently when I would like an interview or such thing, and he'll message me when he spots something really cool about DX somewhere. I did speak briefly with him today and sent him the link though, but he said he is really really busy, in and out of the office, so I don't know if it will get answered.

This is all I have on this subject. Harvey said he spoke with Warren about this thread for some time yesterday. I had sent him the link and I assume he then passed it on to Warren and they discussed it. Anyway, I questioned Harvey about it, and he said something to the effect of "It's more convoluted than you can imagine."
This obviously tells me that it's something they can't, or simple don't want to talk about, and in that same sense, we have to respect that. I have my own theories about what's going on behind those closed doors down there in Austin, but they're just theories I've come up with from reading interviews and such, and I don't think they belong here on this board. Anyhow, lets just wait and see what the future brings, I mean, that's all we can do, right?

Backdoorbandit, first of all thanks for your efforts to get some answers from these guys. I personnaly think that they could have given you a more detailled answer. All I want to know is if there is a serious possibility that Ion Storm will try to acquire the rights for System Shock. I don't understand why nobody can answer this simple question and I believe that I am not the only one who would like to know. Maybe we should try to contact Electronic Arts (wishful thinking I'm afraid). Anyway, I will keep posting until I get my answer but thanks again.

Correct me if im wrong.
I believe Electronic Arts owns the rights to the System Shock name. And i think that Electronic Arts licenses the rights out to a developer - Irrational - and then they create the game.
But then again, that doesnt make sense - to me at least. Did Irrational and LGS make the game together?
I need some education.
Oh yea - Deus Ex rules.

Yes, Irrational and LGS made it together. Irrational was main developer, but they used LGS's Dark Engine, and some LGSers gave input and oversight. Nevertheless, the game was published by EA, and Yes, they're the ones who own the rights to the series. The problem is, ISA's publisher is Eidos, and for them to go through EA would be like betraying your mother when she's feeding you and housing you.
With all of this aside, Eidos could acquire the rights to the SS Series, but it would be costly....very costly, and Eidos doesn't have the money to shell out right now. This is all speculation of course, but it seems reasonable.
Anyhow, ISA isn't going to be giving out any info on any project any time soon. We know for sure they have Thief 3 in the works, and from last nights chat, it's obvious that they're not going to tell us anything....but can we blame them? No. For one, they have just started planning T3, so they don't even know for sure where all this is going 100%. Last nights chat was more of a PR/Feedback from the community chat. They were doing what ISA is known for doing, being nice, community people, and at the same time, they were receiving feedback from Thief fans of what they want in a game. How can they tell what people want in the game, they weren't asking us last night? Easy....they simply dissect the questions to see where people are going with them.
The second project we know that they are finally starting development on is DX 2. I spoke with Harvey last night while I was in the T3 chat, and he said that, of course, he still could not talk about DX 2. These are the only two projects that they are telling us about as of right now. Take notice of my words here.....the only two, that they are telling us about.
It is known for a fact that they have a third project they are working on, but it is secret. But that could also be anything. Warren has said in the past that he would like to make different styles of games as well, so the secret project could be anything. But then again......could be that special something we've all been waiting for, besides T3 and DX 2?
It really doesn't matter what it is, because T3 and DX 2 are going rake in so much money for them, they'll be sitting in their offices after both of these games ship, drinking Gin and Tonic, and living the highlife.

Ooooh. This secret third project is enough for me to tantalize over for a long time.

I'm kinda curious. Is there some reason why Irrational wouldn't be the ones to make System Shock 3?
ISA is working on Thief 3 because of the fall of LGS, but Irrational is still around, so perhaps System Shock 3 will be one of their projects after Freedom Force.
