arghhh !
I can't access that vault area any more. It's flooded with gas. Maybe that is what gitb was referring to in the first place?
I think I better leave this discussion because I'm only confusing matters now. That would make 3 exits possible from the Vault/Treasury area.
1. The way you came in, through the library and treasury key.
2. The crawlspace leading to a center drop down to the beginning section of the FM
3. That maze section of the treasury room or vault area protected by gas.
The actual exit isn't protected by those gas traps. There are only 2 doors that give off gas. They don't lead anywhere. The door that leads to the exit is the west one on the south wall.
Clock, did you mean that the entire Treasury is full of poison gas? I don't think that's supposed to happen. As soon as I touch one of those doors, I'm killed as soon as the gas starts to leak.
So the Treasury exits are:
1. The hole over the Monastery Chapel that you get to by frobbing the switch beside a torch in the Treasury.
2. The exit through the wall frieze about Lord Metelon.
3. Through the secret door that opens into the toilets.
4. Back out through the Library Entrance.

Back out through the Library Entrance. That was my fault for being cute. I leaned forward to frob a locked door, then dashed back upstairs. The door at the bottom auto closes. When I returned to open that door, the entire room was still flooded with gas, and remains that way.
As far as #2 is concerned, I must head back there to find this exit.

I can't find the exit referenced in #2
By frieze, do you mean the painting beside the book that alludes to JFK ? I could only find that switch on the floor there that opens the wall panel which leads to the Sword of Metelon
Clock If you read a couple of posts back in this thread, I told you how to get to the baths. In there I mentioned a room with a switch that opens a gate back in the hallway by the statues. If you go through that opening after the gate has been opened, you can flip a switch at the bottom and you'll end up coming out through what used to be a frieze (not exactly maybe but not really a painting either) with a sign beside it about the mercy Lord Metelon showed by not killing everyone or something similar.

I need help with two things
Concerning the orbs I start with one of course, and I found
one in a cramped library room after poking my head up from a secret tunnel. Where's the third?
As for the 3rd Abbot's secret I've
picked up and read The Official History of the Order. Do I need to find some missing pages somewhere else for this objective to tick off?
glwhalen - You'll find the rest of what you need to complete the 3rd Abbott's secret later on. First you need the other orb. Search the small library in the Abbot's rooms VERY carefully.
I got it now, though I had to load a previous save game (before I permanently gassed the room with all the doors. But it leads to the "toilets" area, not the "baths" area, as defined by the map. Which is fine because it was the toilets area that I was initially concerned about.
So, clear as mud :)
Now, you must view the next question humorously because I'm certainly getting a chuckle out of this. When I went to the "baths" initially, and down into the sewers, I came across an area I hadn't been to yet and was confusing that with the "toilet" secret door issue. So, after clearing up the Treasury room/accessway to "toilet" secret door and "fraize" other exit, I'm left with a new inquiry....is there a way to get behind the blocked off area underneath the baths?
I did find the secret room down there, but it was a dead end
Never mind.........
I found the accessway through the training room, just forgot about it
Sorry about that. I should have checked the map to see what that particular area was called. There's a pool there so I just called it the baths. I'll correct my earlier post so as to not confuse anyone else.
