But now I'm a bit stuck again. I know I have to use the mist of oblivion to destroy some pillars or something but I can't remember where they are. Can someone point me in the right direction again? Please?

In [SPOILER]the vault behind the square stone doors - IIRC - they're more like small light pillars and you need a mist of oblivion for each one[/SPOILER]

Now that I've tried looking around, I found how to open those doors. Timon really likes to hide these switches!
I think I can complete the mission now, but I still wonder about the grate further into the vault. How is it opened? I can see a large lever behind it, but even a well-placed broadhead won't shift it.

@ nil8hate: No problem. Here we go...[SPOILER]To get the vault key, read all notes in the big library´s bureau. Then, you have to go to the wardens quarter. You can use the map to find it. There is also a small library-room. Go up, past statues, to the upper part of this library and to the back end. There´s a hidden book, up there, iirc. Read it. Then go back to the upper statue ( glowing a bit green and with a polish text ). Search and frob the statue until you find/hear a switch. A painting nearby has moved and revealed the Vault-Key. Use the key on the magic wall. Voilá.[/SPOILER]

You can indeed open this panel.
[spoiler]There's a piece of furniture near the entrance to this small library. You can lift it, which will reveal a previously hidden lever. That lever will open the panel.[/spoiler]

this is definitely one of the "need a walkthrough" type mission...at least for someone like me that remains, very often, totally clueless!:joke:

Its a fantastic mission so I must finish it. But it's much too hard for me. Without help from this forum I would have given up before a long time. Finding those hidden switches.... I really want to thank all posters for their clues. How can you solve all these problems? I'm playing Thief series and fan missions from the first day of the release and beaten dozens of missions. But this one really gets me. So, thanks again and keep on the good work for the community.:thumb:
