I don't like most herbal or flavoured liqueurs, such as anything reeking of anise, mint, flowers or cream. Liqueurs in general are only good to make cocktails.
If it's not made from grain or doesn't come from a still and unless it's wine, it's hardly worth drinking.

Rather vanilla of you... I mean, nothing wrong with that; taste is taste. It just seems to leave quite a bit out of your repertoire. I like most of the things you listed in your "out" list. Amaretto is probably my favorite of that type.

Man, now I -really- want some strong apple cider....at 4 AM....bleh.

I'll drink pretty much anything you put in front of me. Except for white ale, like Hoegaarden. Bleh.
But that's a fairly poor choice for a wheat beer. Get thyself to Belgium and sample the many wonders there. I tell you, in Brugge you will experience pleasures thought unobtained. And when you are that close to Germany you might be lucky enough to get some weissbier (instead of witbier) and ahhhhh that's the best. Imho.
Sadly the closest things we get here are Franziskaner and Schneider, although I do really like these, especially the Franziskaner.
But no, if one wants the best beer it has to be, imho, unpasteurised wheat beer. And the king? Is Karg.

In fucking Bruges? :D
Ok.

Yeah, Brugge is great. Moules frites and good beer. Fab.

I will likely be relocating to Lyon next year so will have to completely re-design my drinking palette to mesh with whatever is available there. That said, the food is going to be fucking amazing, so I'm sold even if I'm stuck with lager for a while.

Speaking of Belgian beers, I've had some mixed experience there - Chimay Blue was the tasties beer I've ever had, but I disliked the Yellow and find Hoegaarden and Blue Moon rather bland. I need to try more Germans, quite liked Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, and hear good things about Chech Pilsners too. And I'm not really into American white beers and IPAs, with exception of maybe Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Purple Haze.

Really? Say hi to Digi for us!
I think your selection is going to be a lot more wine based, if that's not stating the obvious... I lived in Geneva a little while, which has that Rhone-Alps feel too.

Oh right, back on topic. I can't believe how specific people are about their booze ITT. I'll drink pretty much anything you put in front of me. Except for white ale, like Hoegaarden. Bleh.
Spoken like a true finn, drinking the piss water they call beer around here. :P
Alcohol is just like food, you should not eat/drink bad stuff. Just because something is "ok" or "passable", mass-produced and easily obtained doesn't make it worth it.
