Forza 3 - Pretending you drive cars you'll probably never own. - by David

Forza 3 lands in Europe today (and maybe other non-North American markets) for the Xbox 360.
Who's picking it up? I'm heading down to the shops at lunchtime to pick it up, and will spend the afternoon <strike>reading the manual</strike> working hard, and then sticking it in the drive as soon as I get home this evening.
I played the demo and loved it, probably because it had a Cooper S JCW in it, and I have one (albeit without the JCW bit). (

Hey, David. Coincidentally, I just got Forza 1 yesterday. I am just starting to get back into driving games after a several year break from the genre.
I had never played it before, and I must say that I am impressed. Much better than Sega GT, and I like the 'feel' better than Gran Turismo. So, what are some differences (improvements/dumbings down/noticeable changes) from the 1st game in the series, assuming you have played it.

Let us know how the presentation is. Forza 2 had fantastic physics, but after a while I lost the motivation to finish it.

My copy of Forza 3 is coming to me next week, I'd be happy to play it with any TTLGer :) Meanwhile I spend my time playing PGR 4, nothing beats 4 laps on Nurburgring in the rain with a friend or even AI drivers.

The interface is very minimalist, menus grey and red on a white background. Very 'shiny'.
The physics are ace, been beefed up a bit since Forza 2. In one race I ran wide and ending up straddling a kerb with one set of wheels just on the track and the other just on the runoff area. The centre of the kerb made contact with the underside of my car and I lost most of the steering ability and got spat off into a wall.
I think it's a bit easier than Forza 2. I've cranked the difficulty up as high as it'll go without getting into manual gears and I'm no longer walking away with every race as I was when the opponent difficulty was set to medium. I'm not even winning every event either. Or even half of them
The AI is pretty rough on the hardest setting. They *will* dive down the inside of you if you either brake early or are too wide.
The damage on 'simulation' mode is nice. It's so very easy to lose bodywork
Yet to try out the MP, but the reviews have been raving about it.
And now, some screenies.

I'm hoping to pick it up when I finish Dirt 2, Mass Effect and Brutal Legend.
I may be some time.

I've got a bit further into the game now, and have opened up some really fantastic tracks (mountain roads in Japan)
So hill climbs are back?
Buying right now. Lack of hill climbs destroyed forza 2 for me.
