I don't see Cosmic Convoy or Castle of Terror in those pictures:rolleyes:
Laugh at me as much as you want but from Cosmic Convoy I got the "seeds" that led me to the doors of System Shock and Castle of Terror did the same about Thief series. At least that's how I remember them.

FYI that clearly says "Gayzor"
I take it these are all cassettes then? Did you have any cartridges (besides fast-load) or any non-pirated floppies?

Yeah, Great Escape is pretty complex and pretty clever. I was reminded of it in Strange Bedfellows (in Thief) and I wish there were more games where you can do stuff in disguise like that.
Subway Vigilante is the best name for a Double Dragon/Renegade rip-off. lol. I had Renegade 1 and 2 (Target?) on the Spectrum. 2 was bonkers and great, especially in 2 player co-op mode. I had Double Dragon on the Atari ST I think. Good times.
The art on the covers is indeed great. It's really of its time though, sadly, and I don't think it'd work now.

Ah memory lane :D
This post made me spend the last hour trawling youtube for my favourite loading music :D

Appreciate it, Faetal. Thanks to your post, I just spent the last 45 minutes doing the exact same thing. I came across something I haven't thought of in years and years that I used to love as a kid.
Ollie's Follies!

I used to love this game simply for all the cool little tricks and traps it'd throw your way. Unicycles on rails! Bouncy pots! Teleporters! Fans that would push and pull you around! Lazer generators! Moving platforms! Pipes you could slide through (this was way before Super Mario)! AND IT ALL LOOKED 3D!

The C64 must have had much better sound than the Spectrum. I don't remember any good Speccy tracks. It wasn't until the Atari ST and Amiga that I laid down memories of the game music.
Does anyone else see a man using a bargepole in that Cybernoid loading screen? It looks like the spaceship is a gondola and a man in a grey cloak and yellow hat is using a pole (the laser) to push it!

The C64 had awesome music. Until the SNES / Mega Drive era, the C64 was the best around for music.

omg you are making me cry
Rob Hubbard was the god, remember Uridium?

Yup :)
After my older brother got an amiga, I inherited his C64. I'd played a little on atari systems (Pong etc..), but the C64 was where gaming really became a hobby.
