Have you ever had Carling?
I'm probably starting to sound like I'm
trying to be controversial here, but I drank plenty of Carling when I was in Liverpool and I thought it was great.

You must have been drunk before you started.
Next time you're in UK I'll show you.

Im not a huge beer snob but still find most of the low-end beer (tecate, bud, miller, rolling rock, pabst) crap; not so much they taste bad, rather, just don't taste at all. Too bland. Luckily, there's always beer pong :p

I'd drink a bottle of Black Label over Genesee Beer any day. I'm certain that stuff is made from water straight out of Three-Mile Island. And in the 80s, a bottle of Pabst's Red White & Blue during the daytime was a sure ticket to a horrible night of the shits, sadness, and regret.
Here's a fun little article about bad beers, and an indictment of how truly awful American beer can be: (

(I still have a bunch of Billy Beer down in the cellar...where it belongs)
Genesee Beer isn't
that bad. I'll take it over Bud, but only by a little. Genesee Cream Ale, on the other hand, is a toxic substance (at least to me, but some people swear they like it).
In high school, my best friend's mom used to drink PBR. She's the only one I know who liked it. And when my friend got married, they got a keg of it for the reception. We were not impressed.
We tried a lot of cheap shit beer during my first year or two at uni. I recall the best of the lot were Meister Brau and Old Milwaukee and the worst was either Utica Club or Naragansett.
I lol'd at the "Beer beer" in the article you linked. I'm guessing the author isn't old enough to remember the generics fad. I remember buying the generic beer for novelty's sake a couple of times, but I don't remember whether it was any good.
