As I've read the posts on this board I've seen mentions of a "Fourth" ending to Deus Ex (always in quotes for some reason) but haven't found any more information about it. can someone please let me in on the details?

Along with the "Matrix" mode, the fourth ending is something that must be experienced for your self. I my self recomend not messing with codes, map configurations, or messing with SDK until you've beaten the game.

It can be viewed by enabling cheats (I'm not going to explain how, it's to long go figure it out for yourself) and hitting "t" (or what ever you have asigned to "talk.") Backspace over "say" and type "legend" w/out qoutes.
Another way is to first make a backup of the 00_intro map in the C:\DeusEx\Maps folder. Then go to 99_endgame4 and rename it 00_intro. Go into the game and goto view intro. To set it back just rname back to 99_endgame4 and move your old 00_intro back into the maps folder.

I got all the DX music mp3ed (44,1khz, 16 bit), but don't know how to get it to you. Y'know, not everybopdy has net at home. :(

I played did that ending after a messup the first time I played which would not let me finish the game so I loaded all the endings. I was wondering when the 4th ending was going to end. But what is this matrix thing people keep talking about, how do I see it?

Check, the May Tricks !Spoilers! thread. To use the May Tricks, enable cheats, go into credits and type "thereisnospoon" w/out qoutations. You'll hear a click after each letter. And it will say "May Tricks Enabled." Try the code before reading what it does.

The code "legend" brings up a secret menu; it doesn't show you the 4th ending. The code "danceparty" is SUPPOSED to trigger the fourth ending, but it didn't work for me. This is the code that worked for me. Type without the quotes: "open 99_endgame4"
For some reason, I haven't been able to trigger May Tricks mode. . . aw well. . .
