I'm supposed to enter a code somewhere that will disable the mechanical faces in the evidence room but i've scoured the whole complex and I can't find anything. At first I thought it'd be in the front office where the other control panal was but it isn't there. Any suggestions?

Check your map again; IIRC the Framed map is incredibly detailed and will give you a hint about a good place to look for the security code. Failing that:
You'll need to go upstairs to the third(?) floor. If you're on the lowest level of the complex, find the big offices area with lots of desks. Proceed north I believe (take a right when you leave the big room) and turn right to find an archer guarding a door. You'll need a key to get through; then head upstairs and explore the rooms up there to find the security code. It's the only 4-digit code on a piece of paper on a table up there.
Ah, i'm sorry I didn't explain enough. I already have the code but I have to find the place where I actually enter it.

Look on the map for the area marked Vault or Evidence Storage. You will need the code to enter.

So the first mechanical face I meet i'll just have to sneak past?

Yes, no matter which way up you take to that floor, you'll have to sneak by one face. It'll be easier to take the main route up and watch its movement from the shadows.

In the end I got caught. A nearby guard spotted me and we dueled. My swordfighting skills went up since Thief Gold and I whooped him good. I did what I had to do and then got lost like crazy in Ambush, then I powered my way through the Mechanist Seminary. I called it quits for today at the bank mission.
