When recording Thief Gold pre-NewDark using FRAPS (TFix 1.10 or before) I get heavy lag in the menus and when reading books/scrolls. In-game I'll record with FPS around 40-50, but in the menus it drops to 20-25. This means loading time takes forever. I've tried with all kinds of settings (FPS 30/60, half/full size, lock/unlocked framerate) but to no avail. I even tried different recording software (dxtory, bandicam, etc.) but with the same result, so it seems like it is a Thief issue and not my hardware. Has anyone else experienced this and have any suggestions? I tried researching other threads but couldn't come up with anything useful.

Olddark Thief (only patched with ddfix) runs like shit on my computer, I get around 25 FPS in both menus and during the game and that's without recording, so you're pretty lucky that it runs smoother during gameplay. I tried everything but no luck either. Even software mode runs very poorly. Recording my speedruns was quite a problem and Fraps sometimes made the game crash while changing levels.

menu and stuff are not rendered in directx like the actual gameplay
as such most recording programsm have big problem with recording them (most of the time it does not work at all)
there are some options in the ddfix files that can fix this
playing in borderless windowed mode shpuld help if ddfix supports that
otherwise there will be an option to change the behaviour of the menu screens but i have no idea whats it called

NewDark works like a charm. Problem is, many of the old fan missions don't play well in ND. Some scripts won't run or random bugs pop up here and there. It's not the original experience intended by the authors basically.
TheDuriel: Yeah I thought I had seen something like that but I couldn't remember where. I'll try and search around. I might just have to play in ND and see how it pans out. Playing Calendra's Cistern, but it has shown itself a little buggy so far.

make a list, post it here somewhere. once the bugs are found and known, it's usually pretty trivial to fix them.

Ok, I'll post the bugs in the official TFix thread, if that's ok. This thread was mostly intended for FRAPS in TG before Newdark.
